Better than the last single but dunno, still feels like there's something missing.

QOTSA on auto pilot, no pun intended.

That was an incredibly boring song. Not expecting much with the album as a whole

They’ve had some great moments here and there, and while I’m yet to hear this new one, it’s probably still the case that as a unit they were at their creative peak when Nick Oliveri was in the band.

He brought so much manic energy and variety to their sound, bouncing off the general swagger. Pity fuckery turned it to shit.

I really love this one and the last one. Gonna shape up to an awesome Queens record (especially after Villains)

Save for Troy, Queens are pretty much an entirely different band now. Nick, Mark (RIP), and Dave all had huge impacts on their sound. It has elements of their past but is still very polished and pop for them. Jon Theodore sounds so tame here, the entire band does.

This song and the last single haven't done much for me, better than Villains but nowhere close to their previous output. Still have high hopes for the new album, and hope it grows on me.

I think Villains was overly polished for their sound, and while this seems a bit more raw it still sounds a little too clean and lacks punch.

I agree with the lack of punch, but thank god they sound way more mature than their last output. It’s like they stand behind their own music again.

I did not like this one at all.

"it’s probably still the case that as a unit they were at their creative peak when Nick Oliveri was in the band."

This is an insane take.

Nick Oliveri left the band after Songs for the Deaf. Then came Lullabies To Paralyze, and... Like Clockwork, arguably their most creative work since Rated R. This almost, makes no sense.

I know you meant it as part of the album title but that ellipsis makes it look like you just really didn't want to bring up Era Vulgaris

Nick Oliveri thing is fair enough really, unless you’re massively into LC (I am!) which to be fair is an outlier of a record in a sense

Like Clockwork is their best album and I was really hoping this one would go back to some of that magic. I felt disappointed by the singles for LC too though when they released so maybe it'll all work better in context.

I was a SFTD fanboy, but honestly, it’s a thoroughly nostalgic record for me - LC is probably just as consistent. Maybe it doesn’t quite have the charm, but it’s certainly leaner.

very different albums regardless, obviously

Qotsa was one of my fav bands when I was like 12 but I recently relistened to SFTD and holy fuck has it aged poorly. Made me feel physically ill.

Like clockwork was literally impossible to sit through it was so boring, I tried multiple times and on the final attempt I pushed extra hard to make it through and next thing I knew I woke up in the hospital on an IV drip

It can simultaneously be a buttrock classic and entirely unlistenable

In fact that’s the only thing that a buttrock classic could be

Upon your recommendation, my take has just been sectioned. My take is now being monitored around the clock in a padded room for its own safety.

Thank you for caring.

I am a big fan of insane and flagrantly disrespectful takes

As long as I agree with them

^TBH, I didn't think there was anything particularly contentious about noting a band member being single-handedly responsible for injecting other genre influences into the sound, leaving and taking those with him. But oh well, that's insanity for you. [Shoulder shrugging emoji]

I didn’t actually read the take but I felt inclined to indiscriminately support it for rustling the Jimmies of a qotsa simp
