Review Summary: Genesis prove themselves to not just their fans, but to the rest of the expectant world.
Selling England by the pound. Or in Old English terms – Selling Englaland be se pund.
This album be one of thy greatest of an excellent era, one jam-packed with merriment, weeping, demise, desolation, and most of all, a ***-load of noble music. Peter Gabriel -well-known from individuals who be growing up in the 70’s which was an epoch of time that witnessed compositions build from strength to strength – is one of the many superb reasons for this albums success. It’s not often an impeccable album that strays severely from the metal genre can be established, but hey, call pitchfork, I think we got a contender. As everyone knows, pitchfork is a bunch of guitar-wielding pussies, so that won’t really be happening. Nonetheless, genesis issue selling England by the pound and substantiate a strong message to the doubters and the haterz. They were here and here to stay.
1973 was cool year for everyone that was alive to see it (so yeah nobody on sputnik cos most are 16 year old guys posing to be 21). The world was developing, technology was evolving and ***. But wanna know what was really progressing. Actually, before I ***ing tell you, let me enlighten you to the irony here of the big word.
progression
Progressive rock anyone?
*** I’m shrewd.
Anyway, as well as the probability of humans building artificially superior robots within the century snowballing, so did Genesis’s talent. SEBTP was the pointy end of their career. The essence of everything they did. It was Where all those jigsaw pieces stopped being pussies and finally fat into place with the obedience they required. As much as raven is gay, this album is virtuous I mean this is seriously the most metal prog rock album ever without even containing anything more than a sliver of prog metal. Banks absolutely shreds and slays the keys like something out of a ***ing Jackie chan movie, it is so damn handsome. In nearly every track theres gonna be some contribution by him and I don’t mean piss weak contributions like you see with prog bands nowadays, I mean consistent organ blocks, piano refrains and even some keys solos that can match and surpass hammets paramount work.
Phil Collins, probs best known for doing that in the air tonight song that mike Tyson sings to on the hangover, performs like something out of Godzilla on this record I mean he plays like a machine on the drums BUT ONLY WHEN HE HAS TO. When he’s not called upon to be going dugudgudugdugudgu on those drums hes purposely laying down beats that convoy the other instruments like the bliss and high you get from smoking strong as *** weed.
Hell, with all their organs, proggy guitar-work and gabriels vocals, this album can induce a high, weed or not.
Steve hackett is a ***ing beast, comparable to the likes of a minotaur, or the dude from borat. He shreds, taps, and solos his way through each and every song that genesis have to offer on this record. Its like something out of a fairytale, yet that being said hackett doesn’t over do it you see? His contrast between blaring the *** out of his amp and playing lovely acoustic chords falls into place right at the middle to make a beautiful blend.
People talk about post-rock bands having atmosphere, one that can make you cry, make you scared but I mean lol who gets scared from a song that’s pussy ***. This album has real atmosphere cos it does it just right. Like on some retarded post whatever albums, bands do like 30 20 second songs to fulfil the ambience they want but in the end it sucks, where as the subtle implication by genesis works perfectly. Whether it be the extended ending to dancing with the moonlight knight, or the sheer length of each and every song (even thought theres a couple that go for less than 5 mins) selling England by the pound pulls of an ether unmatched and one that cant be handled by anyone other than true rockers that rock out to *** like rush and elp.
I have become famous quickly with my excruciatingly well written reviews, more famous than so many fags with like 1000 comments that think people like them but in reality they don’t (like you asotamaki)
It is my trademark to finish with a bang so although putting in a personal input to this review is really bad its part of the feel album. Reading this review, to those that really m/ every day, those that breath m/ that speak m/ that piss and *** m/ will know that this isn’t just a review. This lives the album, and its relatable, because when listening to this album it just makes perfect sense to not make sense.
Don’t let the rock die.
But don’t worry guys.
It won’t.
