| FurtherDown Yeah could be. I just listened to Ida's new single and it brings quite interesting electronic twist to the table. Great track!
| FurtherDown Hey, massive thanks for the promo work of our new Manon Meurt record here on sput! What will be next czechdream record to make a splash here? I'm expecting big things from Ida the Young debut which will come out this year hopefully. And last week I saw Favorite Obsession who are also fresh out of the studio. Any others? :)
| Trifolium Gene you should listen, you will like this I think: https://www.sputnikmusic.com/review/88534/Panghalina-Lava/
| dedex yeah feel ya too much stuff happening for my lil brain but hey at least boredom ain't gonna kick me down!!!
| dedex yeehaw would have guessed that Petrol Girls would have been so much your alley they would have had to rename themselves as gene alley. also hope you're doing well
| Sunnyvale I've heard it once, interesting stuff. Will be coming back to it!
| JesperL on it!! first track is sounding dope, czechdrem's been killing it this year fr
| Hawks Ok u need to give me a rec on my folk list because ur recs on my skramz and ambient lists are both KILLER.
| SteakByrnes Yes! lol but ya that song is def like the dark horse candidate for my favorite on the album, I think they do an amazing job of building it up to a huge climax where Roland is belting the FIND OUTTT part
| SteakByrnes I saw your sound off for big chair and I gotta say, less Working Hour is a very offensive crime that will put you in prison for years to come!
| DadKungFu All sauce no meat perhaps on repeated listens but man the prod is mint
| DadKungFu I might be in love with the new Gesaffelstein and you might be too
| Butkuiss What is the secret to a successful marriage?
| Pikazilla jane's addiction are bland af, agreed
| parksungjoon waiting for the day noise fans get redpilled on metal machine music being a Good Album Actually
| parksungjoon i wonder if its still my fav pe... been a year or two
| SlothcoreSam Lol, I've never really listened to Gene Loves Jezebel, but the Australian band The Jezabels had a great debut album.
| SlothcoreSam Also this, https://www.sputnikmusic.com/bands/Gene-Loves-Jezebel/52255/
| SlothcoreSam You will dig the new one, and the debut,by the band Crippling Alcoholism. It's some noisy gothic post punk
| Slex Saw the name of the new Maggie Rogers and was gonna say exactly what you already did cheers lol
| AsleepInTheBack Do you feel the power coursing through your emboldened, red helvetica?
| xxm You?re welcome. I understand.
| xxm Well done on the Sheer Mag review.
| JesperL hi you might fw chalk, noisy irish post punk band, just released their second ep, also ur kimchi was good as hell idk if i said that yet

| bighubbabuddha Lankum album requires repeated listens for the magic to unveil :)
| bighubbabuddha Thanks, I am sure to check out some of your 5s, especially the ambient stuff, you have a really wide taste in music dude
| bighubbabuddha That sounds frustrating. I'm only wearing the colour blue today, I'm happy tho :D
| Dewinged Dude this whyohwhy album is REALLY good.
| SomeCallMeTim was just reading in the meds thread and I wasn't ready for that album art link you posted lol. best album art ever
| AsleepInTheBack yo I was shoutbox lurking do you still need to know how to make text colourful in reviews the answer is here https://www.sputnikmusic.com/forums/misc.php?do=bbcode
| dedex lol good one!!! hope you and your loved ones are doing well :]
| SlothcoreSam Hey, I didn't get you for Santa, but here's an early xmas gift. Glitoris - Glitoris. Hard to categorize, Aussie femme as art punk
| SandwichBubble Appreciate you thinking of me, but I'll be too busy for that sort of thing. Thanks, though.
| SlothcoreSam Yeah, it's a newer term to retroactively classify nerdy punk bands, Devocore is another name for it. Some people also classify harsh noisy internet emo punk as Egg Punk. Landowner is mostly Post Punk, that you should dig.
| SlothcoreSam Try this one. Landowner - Escape the Compound. Post Punk/Egg Punk
| Squiggly Ok I decided to share it with you on a google doc
| Squiggly I?ll just email it to you, it?s on a word doc rn
| Squiggly Hey someone how?s it going? I?ve got a review drafted for Kara Jackson?s album from earlier this year. I remember you really liked it when I told you to listen to it. Would you be willing to proofread it before I finish it?
| AsleepInTheBack You have reservation at hotel de la post-hardcore may I take your bags (and a rec)?
| JohnnyoftheWell hit that discord!!! are we feeling hang as in chomp food hit fun pub, or more of an Excursion?
| JohnnyoftheWell i will APPEAR what is the plan where is happening will there be pizza
| Mort. https://www.sputnikmusic.com/list.php?listid=204325 - you might be able to help this person
| mryrtmrnfoxxxy cool my brain is playing tricks on me, i thought you'd been around since like 12
| mryrtmrnfoxxxy have you heard mx-80 sound? think youd dig em. ps why is your join date 2020?
| Hawks Not really more synthwave type stuff.
| Hawks Same bro. Last night I was jamming mostly horror themed synth/electronic stuff.
| Hawks Will let you know my thoughts as soon as I'm off this death metal kick I'm on today lol.
| Hawks Czeching out Tinariwen because of your soundoff. m/
| Butkuiss Damn, didn?t see it on your ratings and thought I?d be able to provide you with a novel rec, but oh well. Guess you can?t bean the gene!
| Trifolium gene I did this for you!!! https://www.sputnikmusic.com/review/87560/Bill-Evans-Live-In-Paris-1972-Vol-1/
| Butkuiss Have you ever given Singers and Players a go? Dark, drugged up, punk-inflected dub, but never cringe. It might be right up your alley.
| DadKungFu https://www.sputnikmusic.com/list.php?listid=204015Hit it up s***'s real and live and for good things and reasons
| TwigTW I love the first four Thievery albums, but Saudade is my favorite. I play it more than all the others combined. I get what you're saying though. Those last three albums are terrible. I can't even listen to them. I think the band's best recording days are behind them, but they're still a great band live.
| DadKungFu You and Cimnele might be the only people interested but apparently Skullflower's dropped a ton of material this year and apparently it all sucks
| AsleepInTheBack i need a final rec and wish to give you a second rec if you act FAST
| botb A lot of it for me is the fact that half my life ago (JFC) I was listening to a bunch of scene albums with the he-man woman hater lyrics of metalcore of that day and age and now it just makes me laugh because it?s so embarrassingly poorly written
| botb Yeah a lot of the stuff that I thought I was gonna love forever in high school is a hard 2.5 now too.
| botb It?s funny what time and life does to your tastes
| botb I don?t even love breakdowns anymore hahaha
| botb My first name when I first joined in high school was BRINGONTHEBREAKDOWN and I?m too stubborn to completely abandon it no matter how embarrassing it is lol
| Pheromone u know ive never really met someone like u...
| dedex you know my threats would excite you
| dedex hey i saw you insulting yndi halda. you're lucky you're lovely!!!
| dedex mega trve, but that's truer with Trane: he only released stuff between 1957 and 1967. crazy productivity
| dedex woo thanks Gene! such a great lil discog run (i only listened to 15 albums of his lol)
| Storm In A Teacup Quite the opposite actually. Johnny attached my poem to the announcement of album of the month. Trophy Scars are on sputnik and we have been a big publicity support for them on previous albums back in sputniks heyday 10 years ago
| Storm In A Teacup Not even a review! It was a poem i wrote about the album when the album won sputnik album of the month!
| Storm In A Teacup I saw your comment about sputnik facebook. You should go to Trophy Scars facebook and read their cover photo behind their profile picture. :)
| xxm You?re welcome.
| xxm Nice soundoffs too.
| xxm Good review of the HIRS Collective. Really good.
| hesperus also, i just read your review of the new HIRS album, which i thought was very solid, so i'm glad there are energized and talented reviewers who can rep queer hardcore like i used to. definitely keep it up!
| hesperus hey, i'm glad you've enjoyed my work. i talked about this a couple years ago in the last review i wrote, but long story short, i got to a point where i was struggling to write about music in a way that i felt was constructive and fair to the artists, and the process became more taxing than rewarding. so far that struggle hasn't stopped, so i don't see myself getting back into reviewing anytime soon, but i do still love music
| Trifolium Hiihhhihih no, I don't really feel like applying. Would feel too much pressure to review at a steady pace and focus too much on new music whereas I love reviewing old stuff that deserves a thread, and prefer to do things nice and slow and whenever I feel like it. What about you?
| MiloRuggles Will, this may be a testament to a misfiring memory on my end, but I recall you were writing something about sex and/or buildings at some point and the (perhaps) concept had me deeply intrigued
| MiloRuggles i been here for years! did that architecture**** writeup you were working on ever blossom into being? would love to read
| Pangea hi gene, you got a song for us https://www.sputnikmusic.com/list.php?listid=202356 the theme is one hit wonder songs/artists/whatever
| DadKungFu All for it, now that I think I?ve finally figured out Discord
| SlothcoreSam Early Xmas present. These New South Whales - TNSW. It's Aussie post punk, super catchy and super fun.
| DadKungFu Amount's right but you may want to switch to oil if your batter is burning, butter burns a lot easier
| DadKungFu How much oil/butter you adding to your waffle mix?
| SlothcoreSam Yo, new one for you to check. The Cool Greenhouse- Sod's toast. It's out tomorrow. Cheeky post punk.
| JohnnyoftheWell she is the best https://open.spotify.com/track/5IH8Z7hE8gaFPqZ9eURRxw?si=7bbb47d724e64474
| Minortimbo12 I give you a vote of your choice if you vote for mewithoutYou? (sput royale)
| SlothcoreSam Someone, jump on this, https://www.sputnikmusic.com/list.php?listid=200857 feel like you will have a megasupergroup
| Pangea hi someone, do you have song for sotd? the theme is nature https://www.sputnikmusic.com/list.php?listid=200646
| robertsona Listen to Danielson - Ships (2006) if you haven?t. It?s kind of like the songwriting bona fides of that new Daniel Rossen record (?) but it sounds like Illinois by Sufjan Stevens and has him on it and the entirety of deerhoof and a bunch of other random people. EASY 4.5 for me, best new album in 2022
| Sowing that makes an odd amount of sense, because lately our taste on a lot of things seems pretty far apart (daniel rossen notwithstanding!) - so if I view it as more of a middle ground for dedicated fans rather than his best outright, then you might see even more value in it!
| Sowing the republic of wolves and tigers on trains, particularly "his old branches" from the former and "grandfather" from the latter, are the best entry points for maggio's work if you're interested. souveneer is more of a halfway point between the projects, which I feel is better for familiar fans than for newcomers, but just my two cents! hope you enjoy whatever you check out.
| parksungjoon woot polvo side project with amprim tag on rym?
| neekafat for sure! I should just be neekafat on there
| neekafat not sure, I might have him on discord. and yeah that'd be dope!
| Kompys2000 I've been known to both pod and cast ;P most of my work shifts don't start until after midnight your time, so whatever evening you want to go with should work as long as I've got a bit of notice!
| parksungjoon https://rateyourmusic.com/release/album/mal-waldron-jimmy-jackson-eberhard-weber-fred-braceful/the-call/
| Koris I just made it to the server :]
| MiloRuggles aw ye, damn right we do. v interesting concept i am intrigued and breathing heavily. let me know what to do in discordland when you're ready and i shall dance your dance
| MiloRuggles hey s*** woah yes! i'm not super conversant in the wily ways of discourse; do you send me a link to a chatroom or can i send you my profile or smth? also your link dun got censored!
| parksungjoon i discover music on the internet. ive put them on sput so feel free to rate review spread the word idk
| parksungjoon i hate how little info there is about these artists https://daytimers.bandcamp.com/album/big-dyke-energy-daytimers-celebrating-pride-for-the-community-by-the-community
| Ryus that was really nice, i love the percussion. thx for the rec fam
| Divaman This is true. Kind of disappointed to miss Newport, but my understanding is we'd be riding 25 ft. waves, and even the 8 ft. waves we were riding two nights ago were a bit much.
| Divaman Still on the cruise ship, someone. We were supposed to spend a day and a half in Charleston, South Carolina and then sail up to Newport, Rhode Island. But there's a storm up north, so we're spending an extra day in Charleston and then sailing directly back to New Jersey. We're not going to Newport like we were supposed to.
| dedex k now I can say it: happy 2k soundoffs bro m/ m/ m/
| parksungjoon very tangential: jah wobble and steve hillage wrote and performed on this. orb's second album has a version thats trimmed to just under half the length of this mad 40m single -- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TQ8nTbS9mOE
| parksungjoon https://youtu.be/7m2bjYl-SNA -- certainly dub on this at points
| parksungjoon i have been looking into some of the obscurarer stuff and adding it to the db lately ever since sharktooth reviewed that GAM album. i wish there were a bit more interest around here. there were a lot more collabs than people might think. czukay and liebezeit did an album with jah wobble
| parksungjoon heres something i found recently https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PgLIB2Puwug
| parksungjoon i was shocked that no one had added that stuff to the db. wdyt of labeling Klopfzeichen proto-industrial?
| parksungjoon have you heard kluster? (pre-cluster, with schnitzler)
| parksungjoon weird german s***, and if so how weird are you into
| parksungjoon there is a discogs page for darama but it only has the inclusion on a va comp. but yeah good find cheers
| parksungjoon tbh ive been slacking on bass stuff of the last decade other than burialmeme
| parksungjoon its neat ty, i should revisit beats antique also...
| dedex alright I'll wish it to you again when you reach 2k ratings then! also thx for the rebate now imma be protected!
| dedex happy 2k soundoffs bro m/ m/ m/
| SlothcoreSam Got a good Aussie noise punk band with an awesome name for you to check, the album came out today. s*** Narnia-Cloudbelt
| Pikazilla Thanks! I'll let you know how the listening sesh goes :3
| Pikazilla hello can I have a random post-punk rec pls
| Bedex https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6PDmZnG8KsM huge French classic track for reference
| Bedex good mum pop is a genre, for me it's mid career madonna
| Bedex adding her to my to jam list thanks to thee, havent jammed in ages
| Bedex mylene is a big m/ oomph
| xxm You are most welcome.
| xxm You?re welcome. I don?t really do too much writing here I?m afraid but you certainly piqued my interest and I made something of an exception on your shoutbox.
| xxm Hello there, I just want to say that I appreciate your sharp wit and analysis as well as your willingness to express your biases. I have many disagreements with you but you are a great writer and I love your pithy soundoffs. Take Care.
| MiloRuggles yoyoyo love your new review and you're a champ. let me know if you ever want something you write proofed ? i'm trying to build my skills doing so and would love to try and make your writing shine all the more brightly! peaceloveetceteraxxx
| JesperL yee! https://korobu.bandcamp.com/releases
| JesperL hi hi the new korobu record might be something you vibe with (or maybe not but worth a shot!!)
| theBoneyKing It does feel intentional, and just a bit silly I guess. They don't need to go full epic post-rock and I guess having shorter songs gives them some personality relative to other similar groups but it just doesn't feel like they're working to their strengths.
| theBoneyKing They have a solid sound and very cool influences but clearly havent got the songwriting side of things down yet, a lot of the songs take too many weird turns too quickly to build up effective tension and release. My favorite is the closing track because that one actually goes for a specific vibe and sticks with it for more than 60 seconds, lol.
| theBoneyKing Your Poorly Drawn House soundoff is quite accurate lol. That said its a very listenable little album because its so short.
| Minushuman24 Oh that is super understandable. The last half of the album definitely wasn't as good as the first half, at least on first listen. Definitely always down to talk about that stuff!
| Minushuman24 The vocals are kinda off and I actually find it quite pleasant
| Minushuman24 Yeah, I'm working their show tomorrow night so I wanted to get acquainted. I really like it so far! Totally up my alley
| SlothcoreSam Also there is a new Springtime EP to checkout with 3 longass songs
| SlothcoreSam I think you will dig, it's pretty zany stuff. Apparently they are awesome live!
| SlothcoreSam You should check the new album by Slow Knife - Too Late For The Past. It's experimental, jazz fusion, spoken word, zappa influenced cabaret post punk.
| Jethro42 Oops, I wrote it in my shoutbox. Here is my answer; Because he never replied to my questions in our shoutbox or in threads. No collaborations. Maybe he had his reason of not participating, but why he's taken an entry then...No traces of him... Never. I hope he's still alive.
| Jethro42 Given we already entered into the tourney, I only see a solution; It's that you take the entry of the 20th spot, without changing it. You could listen to it to see if it's a good idea. Btw I know you can be mad, I would be too. I promised you a spot, and cancelled it practically the same day.
| Jethro42 Match ups were already done, and they cannot really move. What I was looking for was a new guy to replace the one I kicked out, but not really another album. Everything fix together well, and I prefer to keep it that way. And again, I'm really sorry, someone.
| Jethro42 Sorry someone, your entry can't go with none. I prefer to go with the album of the person I kicked out. i intend to do a new tourney each 6 months. See you next. You can comment and vote of course.
| bgillesp Checked it the other day. Was a little monotone for me, but certainly interesting enough that I hope they develop that style even more
| bgillesp Just putting this out there, if you ever run into any good new jazz stuff like Ill Considered again, give me a shout to check it out. I'd been a fan of them for a few years but didn't know they put out a new one last year until today when it blew me away as their best release yet.
| parksungjoon https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=OLAK5uy_nQZgkpbIpuEITldHZBSs8qXuSHB39RwQw
| SlothcoreSam I forgot to rec you an Xmas present. Here you go a classic from 1982. The Fall - Hex Education Hour. You prolly gonna 5 it.
| Deez WORD on that Chicago first record. Timeless
| JohnnyoftheWell i do, but it is a last resort ! also damn, this closer is hitting me harder than any overdriven climax has potentially all year, great stuff and no regrets on that purchase
| JohnnyoftheWell o fuq they say it might not arrive til JANUARY !!!! am spotifying rn and it is the good stuff, raw but not sloppy i vibe mmm
| JohnnyoftheWell y u PUBLISH them ratings on the frontpage fool. also why is this album totally unavailable on any of the usual trusty routes aside from spotis***? do i have to buy this cd ugh
| JohnnyoftheWell how dare u bump promising looking hxc albums when i'm almost ready to wrap up my catchup
| Trifolium In the end Ars didn't want December, can you give us our new home someone? For the Casual Conversation?
| nightbringer Here's a reading list on feminist philosophy I picked up: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1uhOdgoshmOuW5DVKcfm3tzVikEgGT1RH/view?usp=drivesdk
| Pheromone someone woah i just listened to slapp happy s/t and saw you had it rated it's amazing wow i love it
| Bedex sounds like i will love it

| parksungjoon https://51peg.bandcamp.com/album/strange-appointments
| SlothcoreSam I could listen to that first track on the new Arthhur album all day, it just keeps on going and going.
| SlothcoreSam How good is that Horsey album? Wonder why more people aren't getting into it.
| SlothcoreSam Someone might like the new Pist Idiots album, Idiocy. It's Aussie pub/garage punk /post punk.
| Shattered_Future Yeah we're both reformed goths (her much more so than I am), so keeping the corniness to a minimum was a high priority. Glad you liked it though!
| Shattered_Future Aw hey, thanks for reviewing the Beldame record! It's nice to see folks reviewing our weird little quarantine baby.
