 | parksungjoon maybe i did jump the gun, all i can really say in my defense is that theres still way too many metalheads posting hot takes like that without any of the self awareness you have, so its easy for me to mistake it for that

| parksungjoon as for originality i agree that its not necessarily a good thing. but the older i get and the more music i hear, its really hard to enjoy things that arent particularly original. if anything i would say that listening to weird obscure genres has been a bigger gamechanger for me than just mining everything in metal. im not a fan of mindless classic worshipping either, there are plenty of bands most rock and metal fans consider really up there that i think are generic and uninteresting.

| parksungjoon i also think the metal scene has a huge problem with posturing, ive been on the internet so long that im tired of people saying slightly less popular bands are better than mega popular bands and acting like thats just some trvth that anyone whos trve will get. i dont care what people like or dont like, but its really dumb how hard some people try to seem cool because they dont like certain things... and ive heard every band they namedrop, usually

| parksungjoon what can i say, im bored and not feeling very patient. you can think im some elitist if you want, but ive had plenty of constructive and civil disagreements on here, its all a matter of how people frame things. if you want to be fast and loose and act like you don't care because its the internet, thats how youre gonna be treated. if you want a more nuanced conversation with respect for taste and all, its possible, but not if you pretend you dont care

| Pon It's because the synthesisers sound tacked on and ultimately lose their luster damn fast. By "fleshing them out" I don't mean ignoring them, it just means they're not that interesting once the bells and whistles have worn off you.

 | pyroflare77 That was a very thorough album preview, mind you, and I didn't like the fifteen minutes of music I heard. I wouldn't be able to stomach listening to a full release of Born of Osiris anyway. Of course it may be unfair, but it's more fair than rating it based on a snippet of one song, for example.
