Definitely fun album, that perfectly represents post-hardcore in early 2000s...It has everything: The catchy choruses, The vocal contrast between heavy screams and cleans with almost pop sensibility, the extremely immature emo lyricism, great melodic instrumentation, that shifts between tempos and melodies so seamlessly.
Now from my perspective Dallas Green makes this album what it is...off course Pettit's screaming is decent, but he isn't all that unique vocalist, Green on the other hand has huge amount of ''swagger'' to his delivery, his vocals just soar over the music and stick into your head and never get out...plus some of the guitar work from Green and Mcneil is really solid for the genre, would it be the awesome almost post-rocky intro to the opener or the chaotic nature of ,,A Dagger Through the Heart..'' or my personal favorite ,,Little Girls Pointing and Laughing'', has great 3/4 riff to it, and the chorus to this thing is just so Catchy.
Off course there are better records from the genre that came out just about the same time, and I would've liked this band a bit more expansive and matured (lyrical), going into different time signatures (Most of this is written in 4/4), trying out some different structures, and maybe thinking sometimes out of the box, but still I've had ton of fun with this one

It took me quite awhile to really settle down for Alexisonfire. Edgy and raw, the emotion pours out of the music here in buckets, and that's what kept me interested. Bouncing between ratings and really thinking about how the album makes me feel has been an all day affair and after one final listen, I realize the impact this album makes. It's fast and seems to unorganized, yet it's put together so furiously and edgy it works out so damn well. An absolutely memorable album from the earlier days of post-hardcore.

A pretty damn fine debut offering from this Canadian quintet. Fusing elements of hardcore, metalcore, emo, thrash - the list goes on - Alexisonfire emerge as one of the major players on the Post Hardcore scene. Though future cd's get a little more accessible/radio-friendly (despite this on receiving airplay) this is probably the band at their rawest and in truest form.

Great album, one of the most original albums you'll ever hear. The combination of George Petitt's screaming and Dallas Green's beautifully sung vocals have come to be part of Alexisonfire's signature sound. The delayed guitar riffs drive the album excellently and set a perfect mood. When Alexisonfire describes their music as the sound of 2 catholic school girls in mid knife fight, this is the album where you can actually think "Ok, ye, ye, I get that" its wholy original and an excellent album.

As much as I love "Watch out!", as much do I dislike this album. There are two great songs, ".44 caliber Love letter" and "Pulmonary Archery". Those have nice melodies, interesting guitar work here and there. The rest sounds awkward though. Partly because of the mix, partly because its just not my thing. Diffrerent with the follow up though. Gotta love that one
