Wrest is back with his bleakest and most nihilistic sonic endeavor yet. In addition to the expected onslaught of rsinister black metal, Wrest incorperates his signature ambience and atmosphere and also experiments with other rgenres such as daveling into funeral doom in the album's title track and the punk inspired riff in the spectacular rWithin Thrall. The ambience and sampling may bug some looking for straight black metal and the rexperimentation might throw some off guard but honestly Wrest does both of these fields with such experetise it rreally is only a matter of personal taste rather than outright flaws in the music. In conclusion, Scar Sighted truely ris a redemption for Wrest and hell, it may just be his best work.

Painful and tormenting experience with black metal, death, thrash and ambient dark atmospheres all weaved together. While some knock the samples I find they are placed brilliantly and add a creepy layer that could not be achieved without them. Brilliant vocals with black metal shrills, growls and screams of pure terror and pain. It is a bit drawn out towards the end but every track on the album presents fresh sounds as the harsh sounds wear you down. Several slowed, albeit still creepy, moments (ex. ends of Smoke and Coprolite) provide enough variance to stop the album from seeming repetitive. The Smoke of Their Torment, Dawn Vibration and Within Thrall are all up there with the best of 2015.

Falling into an endless pit, end-of-The Shining-Jack Nicholson, an enflamed airplane mid-nosedive, boxes of trash getting thrown around: a short list of images this can conjure up. It's rough and vile and heavy as much as it is textured and atmospheric and (legitimately) frightening, all-out raspy-thrash bludgeons are just as invigorating as slow+tortured dirges, and plenty of avant-garde touches and well-placed samples are there to beautify/disfigure.

i love the more death metal take on this depressive black metal genre that leviathan has been rocking the fuck out of for a while now. Such a solid album full of great, hard hitting, emotional, gripping, enthralling, and thrilling tracks. one of his best, if not his best.
