If he ever re-records it with a decent sound (not good, just decent) that would be at least a 4. I really don't get the passion for lo-fi. This album is full of great ideas but it sometimes sound soooo shitty it's unbearable.

THIS IS THE MOUNTAIN GOATS. Now I know you love the ultra lo fi, 7" that no one can afford to buy anymore. I know that as you matured you grew to accept John's use of a proper studio, given that is subject matter and overall cohesiveness(a word?) increased in the 2000-2007 years. But no matter what you like you know this is the begining of the vaguely conceptual phase and the end of the lo fi. Its got the charm, its got the poetry, its just downright fucking cool. Buy the fucking thing already.
