I wanted this album to be Mongrel part II so badly. What I got was a more mature effort, that actually made me begin questioning the efficacy of Mongrel as The Number 12's masterpiece. Worse Than Alone is just as musically brilliant in its technicality and structure as Mongrel, but what really sets it apart are the performances by Jon Karel and Alex Pareja. These two should have received more credit for their expertise while The Number 12 was still around. It is shame we will never know what this band would have progressed into. RIP Number 12

The Number Twelve put out their best album since "Put On Your Rosy Red Glasses" and with amazing guitar, jazzy bass, pounding drums, and Jekyll and Hyde vocalization, these guys will have you coming back for numerous listens.

12 was always a band I considered to be on the progressive side of metalcore/mathcore, but never had they quite been "experimental". Worse Than Alone changes that, and it's quite interesting. Almost gone are the immensely technical mathcore riffs, replaced with tasteful and worthwhile progressive experimentation, seen in full on songs like "Given Life", "The Garden's All Nighters", and "Retort, Rebuild, Remind". Don't let that fool you into thinking they can't still make a great, intense metalcore song, though, as "To Catch A Tiger", "If They Holler, Don't Let Go", and "I'll Make My Own Hours" are all very mature and interesting songs. While there isn't necessarily a standout track here, they're all high quality, and sound different enough from each other to prevent bleeding into each other. With what is certainly their most ambitious project and easily their best since their debut, 12's swan-song is an album that shouldn't be missed by fans of metalcore, especially metalcore with experimental tendencies.

This is the best # 12 album to date. Very well written and played, I love how they dropped some mathcore-ness for a more jazz and almost deathy feel on some songs (ex. Glory Kingdom). Great review too.

No. 12 breathe in the salty sea air of NJ and add some groove and smooth moves to their tried and true grind and metal leanings creating an intriguing, catchy, and technical miasma of sound.

This album is special to me. It's full of raw aggression and some extremely cathartic moments but sometimes Number 12 falls back on that very very rowdy hardcore style which im just not a fan of especially with the very sharp vocals. It hurts my head. Its a great listen, it really is.

The vocals themselves might be somewhat of a grower, but Worse Than Alone shows the band members really coming into their own. Highlights include "Marvin's Jungle" and "The Garden's All Nighters".
