1998 when vocalist Ari Lasso left. He was replaced by the mononymous Once, which was met with very lukewarm reception,
although by the time Dewa 19 released “Bintang Lima” in 2000, the new lineup was finally received positively, with the album
going on to sell over a million copies, becoming the best-selling album in Dewa 19’s catalog.
Dewa 19 would go on to enjoy their superstardom in Indonesia, touring all across Asia, until the group went largely silent in
2009, and Once officially departed from the group in 2011. Once was then announced to be replaced by Indonesian Idol winner
Judika Sihotang, although this inception of Dewa 19 would end up not to be as they announced they their abrupt disbandment in
late 2011. Since 2012, however, Dewa 19 have had a few reunions with Once as the frontman. « hide |
