The Milk Stories, the self-proclaimed "Only Band that Actually Matters," is an experimental rock group. Group is a loose term, considering the
only consistent member is Jack Dancecake, often referred to simply as Dancecake. Their first album was The Dancing Stones are Restless in
2009, an album unlike all their others, in that it falls more in the avant-garde/post-rock genre rather than the experimental rock that they came

The Milk Stories, the self-proclaimed "Only Band that Actually Matters," is an experimental rock group. Group is a loose term, considering the
only consistent member is Jack Dancecake, often referred to simply as Dancecake. Their first album was The Dancing Stones are Restless in
2009, an album unlike all their others, in that it falls more in the avant-garde/post-rock genre rather than the experimental rock that they came
to be known for. Wanting a better way to release his records, Dancecake founded PoopButt Records in 2010, which later became home to
bands such as Incognito Burrito, Cusp, Transparent Afro, and The Butts. The opening of PoopButt Records coincided with the release of The
Milk Stories' second album, fan-favorite Pwnasaurus. This saw a drastic change in style which brought them to their current genre. Only two
months later they released The Greatest Story Ever Told, a concept album very loosely based on the Bible. This album gained the group more
popularity, earning a positive review from blogger Steve Brady. Later that year, they released a split album with newcomers Cusp and Incognito
Burrito, which made Incognito Burrito an underground sensation. Then, in early 2011, The Milk Stories released Poop-a-Loop, a more polished
effort with some elements of electronica added to their usual guitar-based sound, which was undoubtedly influenced by Incognito Burrito. This
album made the band quickly blow up, again earning a positive review by Steve Brady, and the lead single, Kill the People, even getting airtime
on college radio. Dancecake, now a D.I.Y. icon, released the EP Tales of the Revolution two months later to mixed reviews. « hide |
