| Rev's Winter 2013 Anime Wrap-up!
quick wrap up of the winter 2013 anime season. the list is the 11 shows I
watched, ranked from best to worst. overall a pretty decent season, and
the spring is looking to be pretty great too! | 1 | | James Blake Overgrown
Sasami-san@Ganbaranai. 9/10. (comedy, supernatural) Crazy hijinks? Japanese
folklore? Shaft animation and cute girls? Count me in! Sasami-san is a wild ride of
action, comedy, and just ridiculousness! Definitely check it out if you missed it this
season!
The Japanese call them hikikomori?people who've become so withdrawn socially
that they refuse to leave their homes for weeks and even months at a time. For
Sasami Tsukuyomi, who's attempting to pass her first year of high school despite
being a shut in, it's more than just a word. Fortunately though, she lives with her
older brother Kamiomi, who just happens to be a teacher at the school Sasami is
supposed to attend. Not to mention, her "Brother Surveillance Tool" which lets her
view the outside world via her computer and will, theoretically, allow her to
readjust to interfacing with people again. What it mainly does, however, is let her
view her brother's interactions with the three very odd Yagami sisters, who
inexplicably seem to have had their ages reversed and have various types of
"interest" in Kamiomi. And then things start to get really weird... Magical powers?
Everything turning into chocolate? Is life via the web warping Sasami's brain, or is
it the universe that's going crazy? | 2 | | Bonobo The North Borders
Sakurasou no Pet na Kanojo. 8/10 (drama, romance, comedy). The school
romantic comedy revolves around a second-year high school student named
Sorata Kanda who lives in Sakurasou, the dormitory for problem children at
Sorata's school. One day, Mashiro Shiina?a cute girl who happens to be also a
cosmopolitan, brilliant artist?moves into Sakurasou. | 3 | | Justin Timberlake The 20/20 Experience
JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Phantom Blood / Battle Tendenc. 8-9/10 (action,
supernatural, rad shit): MOTHER FUCKING JOJO. must I say more? action,
vampires, and an extreme sense of flair, if you haven't seen or read this shit GET
ON IT ASAP
This is the story of the Joestar family, and their battles against bizarre enemies.
Jonathan Joestar's battle against the vampire Dio Brando starts it all, and it
continues into roughly each second generation of Joestars through all parts of the
story. | 4 | | Geskia! Silent of Light
Boku wa Tomodachi ga Sukunai NEXT (comedy, romance) 7-8/10. Season 2 of
BwTnS. The Neighbor's Club?a club founded for the purpose of making friends,
where misfortunate boys and girls with few friends live out their regrettable lives.
Although Yozora Mikazuki faced a certain incident at the end of summer, the daily
life of the Neighbor's Club goes on as usual. A strange nun, members of the student
council and other new faces make an appearance, causing Kodaka Hasegawa's life
to grow even busier.
While they all enjoy going to the amusement park, playing games, celebrating
birthdays, and challenging the "school festival"?a symbol of the school life normal
people live?the relations amongst the members slowly begins to change...
Let the next stage begin, on this unfortunate coming-of-age love comedy!! | 5 | | Swans Children of God
Maoyuu Maou Yuusha. 7/10 (fantasy) After a long and treacherous journey, our
Hero finally arrives at the Dark Lady's castle only to find himself being asked for
help. The Hero explains how the war that the demons have brought upon the
humans have killed thousands and put more in misery. The queen of demons
however argues that this war has made the human society band together as one
and showed empirical evidence how it has increased population, increased
production, boosted economy and improved society overall. Furthermore, she
explains to the Hero that ending this war will result in a civil war that will produce
more bloodshed than there ever was. The Hero, convinced that the only way to
bring peace, relatively speaking, is to join forces with the Dark Lady, agrees to help
with her plans! | 6 | | Autechre Exai
Magi. 7/10 (adventure, fantasy). This story is about the flow of fate and the battle
to keep the world on the right path. Aladdin is a boy who has set out to explore the
world after being trapped in a room for most of his life. His best friend is a flute
with a djinn in it named Ugo. Soon enough, Aladdin discovers he is a Magi, a
magician who chooses kings, and he was born to choose kings who will follow the
righteous path, battling against those who want to destroy fate. Follow his
adventures as he meets others from 1000 Arabian Nights, like Ali Baba and Sinbad,
and fights to keep the balance of world in check! | 7 | | Actress Hazyville
Tamako Market. 7/10 (comedy, slice of life). Tamako knows just about everything
there is to know about mochi, the traditional Japanese dessert treats. When she's
not attending her first year of high school, she even invents new flavors and
varieties for Tama-ya, her family's mochi shop. School and growing up, on the
other hand, are some things that she's still trying to find the right recipe for. But
with the help of her best friends Kanna and Midori, two girls whose parents run
businesses in the same shopping district, Tamako's determined to make the best of
things. It's complicated though, especially when it comes to emotions and her
relationship with her best boy friend Mochizou, whose family runs a rival mochi
shop. And lately, Midori's been feeling a little odd about her feelings towards
Tamako as well. And what's with up with that strange bird fluttering around, the one
that speaks fluent Japanese? It's all very mysterious and overwhelming, but at
least Tamako always has one thing she can count on: No matter if your day's been
good or bad, there's certain to be something sugary and delicious waiting at the
end of every adventure whenever you take a walk through Tamako Market! | 8 | | Nocow Gather Strength
INFERNO COP. TOO GOOD FOR A RATING (action) The story deals with those in this
world who dwell in the dark, invisible to the naked eye. From time to time, these
figures bare their fangs and attack people. Inferno Cop is a messenger of justice
who came from the depths of hell to protect people from them. | 9 | | Gas Zauberberg
Little Witch Academia. 8/10 (fantasy, comedy). Little Witch Academia is one of the
four anime works that each received 38 million yen (about US$480,000) from the
"2012 Young Animator Training Project." Just like in 2010 and 2011, the animation
labor group received 214.5 million yen (US$2.65 million) from the Japanese
government's Agency for Cultural Affairs, and it distributed most of those funds to
studios who train young animators on-the-job.
this is really goddamn good, watch it right now | 10 | | Segue Pacifica
Vividred Operation. 6/10. (action, sci fi) This story is set in Oshima. The happy,
carefree 14 year old Akane Isshiki lived a poor, but well loved life together with her
reliable little sister, Momo, who does all the housework, and her grandfather,
Kenjirou, a genius inventor who only created useless devices. When the weather is
clear, they can see the artificial island, Blue Island, across the sea. In the center of
that island rises the revolutionary Manifestation Engine, a discovery that solved the
world's energy problems.
It is a peaceful future, just like everyone dreamed of. One where everyone can
smile and be happy...
But suddenly, the world is visited by danger. An unknown enemy, the Alone,
appear, targeting the Manifestation Engine. As none of their weapons worked and
they fell into despair, a lone girl takes a stand wearing a red "Palette Suit" which
wields a great, hidden power. Before long, allies gather around her to fight.
And their friendship becomes the only hope for saving the world! | 11 | | Silent Harbour Silent Harbour
Robotics;Notes. 6/10 (sci fi) 2019, Divergence Ratio 1.048596. The near future,
where a device popularly called the PokeCom, packaged with PhoneDroid OS,
spreads, bringing the Augmented Reality world close to existence.
Central Tanegashima High School's Robot Research Club is in danger of losing its
club status. Kaito Yashio, one of only two members, is only obsessed with robot
fighting games, showing no interest in the Robo Club even in this situation. The
reckless, useless club head, Akiho Senomiya, aims to complete a giant robot,
struggling hard to avoid losing the club's status.
Then, one day, Kaito discovers the A.R. annotation that becomes the Kimijima
Report. Written in that report is the indictment of someone named Kou Kimijima's
conspiracy involving the world. | |

04.07.13 | i'm kind of too drunk to remember what all I watched but I think this is everything

04.07.13 | does 11 really suck?
i mean i'm not surprised but i loved steins;gate
wasn't psycho pass this season? the only thing i'm actually interested in watching tbph | toxin.
04.07.13 | actually #1 sounds pretty interesting, esp if it's shaft | Rev
04.07.13 | @toxin, r;n didn't suck but it pales in comparison to steins;gate. it has a tendency to drag.
I didn't get around to finishing Shinsekai Yori (I lost interest), and I never found time to get around to starting Psycho Pass. I hear it fluctuated a lot in consistency but the last few episodes were stellar | toxin.
04.07.13 | wakatta
that's a shame about r;n but to be expected. i'll check out #1 though, and actually #8 too because it sounds like the dark knight lol | Ovrot
04.07.13 | Inferno cop 10/10 | Winrar
04.07.13 | Was a pretty boring season for me. I dropped about 4 shows, i think the best show for me was shinsekai yori. Jojo was fun but sakurasou was the biggest drag. Whatever, this season is looking to be much better. | Rev
04.07.13 | yeah sakurasou had some shitty things about it (unnecessary drama, weird pacing, etc), but I absolutely loved so many things about it I didn't mind
toxin, while inferno cop isn't quite what you think it is, you should definitely check it out if you like ridiculous action and comedy, plus the episodes are all on youtube and they're like two minutes each
"9 was great, btw too bad it's only a one-shot."
it's so good ;__________; | Ovrot
04.08.13 | shingeki no kyojin aoty
read the manga or die | toxin.
04.08.13 | ridiculous action and comedy? that sounds like the opposite of what i usually like :[
| Rev
04.08.13 | i have almost no desire to watch SnK but I'll probably still check it out
toxin, just watch the first episode because it's a pretty good example for how the series as a whole is | Ovrot
04.12.13 | i know there won't be any moe but do it anyway | MisterTornado
04.12.13 | always wanted to get into anime, but have no idea where to start. | toxin.
04.12.13 | @rev will do
@Tornado there's an anime for everyone, what kind of shows do you like | MisterTornado
04.12.13 | tv shows? | toxin.
04.12.13 | tv shows, movies, w/e. if you're interested in psychological thrillers, you would be rec'd something different than someone who's into action/adventure, or sci-fi thrillers, or space westerns, or whatever.
as an example, a fan of avatar: the last airbender would dig the shit out of fullmetal alchemist: brotherhood, whereas a fan of firefly would dig the shit out of cowboy bebop | MisterTornado
04.12.13 | i'm a fan of j-pop, neon landscapes, and heavy rain. REC me a show | Ovrot
04.12.13 | Excel Saga |
