Albums That Were Never Meant To Be

Albums that were either unreleased and/or unfinished.
1Deftones
Diamond Eyes

Back in 2008, the Deftones planned to release an album under the working title of "Eros", which apparently was named after some German porno magazine. Supposedly, it was going to be their most aggressive album, and recording began in April. Production for the album came to an abrupt halt when Chi Cheng, the band's bassist, went into a coma from a car accident. To this day, the album still remains unreleased, however a song from the sessions, titled "Smile", was leaked on youtube at one point.
2Weezer
Songs from the Black Hole

Initially to be released as a follow up to their 1994 self-titled debut, Songs from the Black Hole was going to be a short rock opera about a group of astronauts that fly to space. The album would of also included a complex love triangle story ark, and recording begun during December of 1994. Production ended sometime in 1996, after the band dropped the album in favor for a more "down-to-earth" record that would later become Pinkerton.
3The Beach Boys
The Smile Sessions

Smile was the intended follow up to The Beach Boys' critically acclaimed Pet Sounds album, with recording sessions taking place between 1966 to 1967. However, due to internal conflicts and issues with their label, production for the record essentially collapsed over itself, and it was never finished. However, a box set that contained material from the Smile sessions surfaced in 2011, known as The Smile Sessions.
4The Plot To Blow Up The Eiffel Tower
Love in the Fascist Brothel

In 2006, The Plot To Blow Up The Eiffel Tower began recording what was intended to be their third full length studio album, titled Saviors & Suckers. However, the band broke up after completing about 6 songs, and decided to instead release Saviors & Suckers as an EP through Three One G. For whatever reason, this EP release never surfaced, and to this day there still is no official release. All 6 tracks, however, have been leaked on Youtube.
5Foetus
Deaf

On the catalogue insert that came with Foetus' 1981 Deaf LP, it mentioned the planned 1982 release of the Foetus On The Beach triple album, a release that would never see the light of day. According to JG Thirlwell, the mastermind behind Foetus, this untitled Foetus On The Beach triple-LP was going to be an epic concept album about the end of the world, but the project was quickly scrapped
6Green Day
American Idiot

Back in 2003, Green Day began recording what was supposed to be a follow up to their 2000 album Warning titled Cigarettes and Valentines. Sadly for them, the tapes used for the recording sessions where stolen, and thus the band had to work from scratch. This in turn would cause them to instead make American Idiot.
7Ed Hall
La La Land

In 1996, noise rock trio Ed Hall recorded Permission to Rock... Denied, an album that would of been their sixth. However, the band broke up just after the sessions were completed, and for whatever reason, they decided to not release it. The entire thing, however, was leaked onto the internet a few years back.
