| My Favorite 10 Squeeze Songs
I notice there's a lot more '70s love on Sputnik than there is '80s love. The '70s love is great, but the '80s was good too, especially for pop rock. Squeeze is one of the top '80s bands for pop rock. I caught them live 2 weeks ago at The Paramount in Huntington with English Beat opening for them. Here are my favorite ten Squeeze songs. | 10 | | Squeeze Argybargy
"Separate Beds"
A song about young love. They didn't play this one when I saw them 2 weeks ago. | 9 | | Squeeze Squeeze
"Take Me I'm Yours"
They played this one at the show 2 weeks ago. Think it was the last song of the encore. | 8 | | Squeeze Argybargy
"If I Didn't l Love You"
They played this near the end of their set, right before "Pulling Mussels (From the Shell)" | 7 | | Squeeze Argybargy
"Vicky Verky"
Another song about young love. They didn't play this one. | 6 | | Squeeze Argybargy
"Another Nail in My Heart"
"So play me the song/That makes it so tough/Another nail for my heart". They played it. | 5 | | Squeeze Singles – 45's and Under
"Annie Get Your Gun"
They didn't play it this time. :( | 4 | | Squeeze Argybargy
"Pulling Mussels (From the Shell)"
"And I feel like William Tell/Maid Marion on her tiptoe feet." They played this one 2 songs before the encore. | 3 | | Squeeze Cool for Cats
"Cool for Cats"
Very distinctly Squeeze. They always play this one. There'd be a riot if they didn't. | 2 | | Squeeze East Side Story
"Is That Love"
Like a lot of Squeeze songs, it sounds a little inside out. They played this one. | 1 | | Squeeze Cool for Cats
"Up the Junction"
The first Squeeze song I ever heard. They played it right before the encore. | |

10.30.16 | I know I left out two of their best known songs, but I'm not that big a fan of either "Black Coffee in Bed" or "Tempted". They did play both of those songs when I saw them, though. They were very good, although they played a few songs from the new album I could have done without -- it's not one of their stronger efforts. Sorry to have left out "Goodbye Girl", but not enough room on the list. | SandwichBubble
10.30.16 | Probably the best singles band ever. Argybargy's still a jam, though. :) | Divaman
10.30.16 | Getting ready to do a review of Argybargy sometime later this week. Drives me crazy it doesn't have a review on Sputnik. | SandwichBubble
10.30.16 | haha yeah, a review would be nice! Might bring in a few new listeners, at the very least. I'll definitely be on the lookout for your write up on it. | Sinternet
10.30.16 | one of my dad's favourite bands, he's seen them at least 8 times i think. they seem alright from the tracks i've heard | Divaman
10.31.16 | Your Dad has good taste, Sinternet. I've only seen them twice myself, but both were good shows. | TimeMuffin
04.15.17 | idk, their new album's pretty good if not perfectly alright, as much of a return to form as you could ask for given the band's best songs being pretty much when they first started. Good list anywho, though would have put Goodbye Girl in like top three, Separate Beds is the best song on Argybargy imo, and shoutout to In Quintessence for being a catchy catchy opener. Maybe too much Argybargy but at the same time it is probably their best album of material (Cool for Cats is my personal fav). And lastly, "The Truth" may be an unrealistic dark horse off of their album "Play" for me, but obvi early 80's material is as late as one should probably care to get to when it comes to top lists. |
