As a kid I was a nerd and read science stuff my parents gave me. I was obsessed with lego, NES, dinosaurs, pokemon and then yugioh at various stages of my childhood. I did well in high school but when I got into college I swear everyone was smarter than me. That was intimidating. Now in the real world it almost seems like everyone's on the same level, at least in my profession.
Despite this I swear I make dumb mistakes or leave things lying in places and I completely forget where I left them. And of course the "wtf am I doing in this room. I swear I came here to do something"
This list is my growth in metal which was rooted in this site. Where I started and most of the bands I discovered in a sequence over the years since high school 9 years ago (albums are what I got into first by that band)
My dad burned me these first three ones and this was like all the music I knew. Really didn't listen to anything before he gave me these in like 9th grade.
Found these guys through Pandora while playing Runescape. I specifically remember doing the quest Mourning's End Part I when I first heard these guys...
Was extremely obsessed with this in college. Didn't understand the hate for it on this site. Listened to this twice a day (or more) for several months.
Had their discog on my ipod but hadn't listened to them before and I was bored at work so I shuffled and got "Spirit Crusher" and was like 'woah who is this?'. Now my favorite band.
yeah I feel that way often, I work around a lot of intelligent people and it can be intimidating until I see they have their flaws too (mostly lack of social skills or weird habits) I think we all have our dumb moments
Kinda. Although i was an asshole in secondary school and thought i was smarter than I am anyway. My general knowledge is pretty great though i will say that.
"My general knowledge is pretty great though i will say that." I think this is true of anyone who's intelligent and wants to learn.
You can literally learn more using the internet and good resources in your spare time than most people did in their entire lives of school pre-internet. It's just a matter of interest.
Honestly... I'm absurdly impractical & socially inadequate but my affinity for some specific academic pursuits is considered impressive, usually anything related to numbers/statistics, patterns & any logic accompanying such things.
