SandwichBubble
11.22.20 | I usually do, which is why I'm up at 1AM on my day off.
Also as an aside, please be safe. FL is a hotbed right now. |
AffableMartyr
11.22.20 | Yeah florida is pretty crazy with cases. Morning portables I usually x-ray 20 covid pts. A night |
SandwichBubble
11.22.20 | Probably should've mentioned that I'm also in FL and in a medical-related position, not trying to psych you out or anything, promise.
But if this is you're first time on a "night shift," don't worry, you'll get used to the hours. |
AffableMartyr
11.22.20 | Yeah I was PRN for awhile, this is my 4th night so far it hasn't been bad |
heyadam
11.22.20 | I work 11p-8a most nights — it’s not *bad*, but the sporadic daylight really started to fuck with me after awhile |
AffableMartyr
11.22.20 | I like it because it's less chaotic. I literally only take x-rays. Day shift you do everything from OR cases to fluoro stuff which sucks |
RogueNine
11.22.20 | There were times when I had to be at work at 2:30 AM. There's one shift I won't miss. |
someone
11.22.20 | used to work evening-to-night bartending shifts before everything closed down
not the worst thing ever, was always looking forward to the victorious shot of something soothing at the end |
Divaman
11.22.20 | Not anymore, but I did for most of my life. (Actually, I guess I often still do in a way. I work from home and make my own hours, and since I'm still a night owl it's not at all unusual for me to send out notes, etc., in the wee hours of the morning.) Good luck with your night shift. I always loved it. |
EphemeralEternity
11.22.20 | night shift workers die 10 years earlier on average...or is that left handed...or [insert attribute in question]?
Also what's x ray tech like and how would you compare it to ultrasound?
I've been thinking of getting into medical imaging career because it seems very solid and transferrable...although I'm not sure if I have an actual interest in it or not |
Divaman
11.22.20 | One can hope. |
SymbolicInTime
11.22.20 | I had a short stint with a shift like that, but my body just could not adjust to that sleep schedule, even after several months. Had to go back to mornings, as I couldn't function anymore.
Good luck fam |
TheAntichrist
11.22.20 | does 3-9 once a week count |
Divaman
11.22.20 | Yeah, I noticed that over the years. Some people adjust to it, and some people never do. The only way to find out which of those two categories you fit into is to try it. |
