01.25.21 | Thanks for the response y'all. I'm not too interested in folk or metal music atm. Enemies seems promising, I'll give them a listen later.
I wasn't able to get into any Rishloo besides the song Feathergun. vocals are good but their music wasn't doing it for me besides the one song.
Haven't given Black Peaks a real shot yet. Leprous didn't hook me, and neither did Children of Nova. |
Alexagon
01.25.21 | @BookoftheFallen I like his clean vocals but his growling is absolutely horrendous to me. I cannot stand that type of vox at all. |

01.25.21 | Are you familiar with Dallas Green?
He is in Alexisonfire (phxc) and does the clean vox and has his own project called City and Colour which is more of a folk/blues/alternative mix. He has a beautiful voice and I love it so much |
Alexagon
01.25.21 | @Ecnalzen Good to see ya again. I love Dallas Green's vox. He's definitely the type I'm in the mood for, but with music that's energetic. I couldn't get into Alexisonfire beyond a few songs. |
Emim
01.25.21 | I always get Dallas and Anthony Green mixed up |

01.25.21 | Glad to be back!
Aw, shucks, I extra love AoF. I can come up with a few others, tho, methinks. Most of this is gonna be in the alt/rock/phxc realm, I would say
We Are The Ocean - Ark (he sounds very close to Dallas, so this might do ya pretty good, actually)
Envy on the Coast - Lowcountry
The Classic Crime - Silver Cord
Young Guns - All Our Kings Are Dead / Bones
Mallory Knox - Asymmetry
The Computers - Love Triangles Hate Squares
Alter Bridge - Fortress (I imagine you know who these guys are but didn't see in your ratings, but anyway, Myles has got a crazy range and an awesome voice)
Soundgarden - Superunknown / Audioslave - S/t (once again, more well known, but also not in ratings and Chris Cornell could fucking belt it out like few others can)
Anthrax - Worship Music (I know you said nah to metal but their comeback stuff is probs more hard rock vibe with bits of metal/thrash so, who knows, you might dig it. Belladonna is an amazing vocalist)
Blues Pills - S/t
Deaf Havana - Fools and Worthless Liars
Marmozets - Weird and Wonderful Marmozets |
Alexagon
01.26.21 | I've listened to 1 and 2, couldn't get into them. I listened to 3 years ago, don't remember liking or disliking. I'll check them out again.
I've not heard of 4, 5, or 6.
I know 7 from WWE actually lol. Not really my type of thing.
Don't have much interest in 8.
I can check out the rest of them.
Thanks!

01.26.21 | Hope you find something you like! Marmozets and Blues Pills are both lady vox, just in case you want to know. I was trying to think of more upbeat stuff with front ladies that fit the bill, but those were the only two that came to mind at the moment
If you aren't into Alter Bridge, Anthrax might not be in your interests, either. Oh well, up to you, if you want to check it still
Depending on what you do and don't like from whatever you decide to listen to, I might be able to come up with more. Let me know! |

01.26.21 | Have you messed with Shoutboxing yet? If you click someone's username it will take you to their page and their shoutbox is at the bottom. Type something in there and hit post and the user will get a notification about it, and vice versa. You can also look thru a users' ratings, lists, reviews, etc
Or you can just comment in this again and it will pop up in my discussions
Or both! Whatever works. I feel like reccing multiple things is better in lists or in a review thread than on someone's shoutbox. I also want to say a shoutbox message maxes out after a fairly small amount of characters, too, but I don't remember for sure |

01.26.21 | The Reign of Kindo is SO damn good! Of course, with The Reign of Kindo comes the absolutely essential follow-up recommendation:
Thank You Scientist - 'Maps of Non-Existent Places' or 'Stranger Heads Prevail'
Hold up, hold up...we have some really good band recommendations, but no albums. Allow me:
Fair To Midland - 'Arrows & Anchors'
Secret & Whisper - 'Great White Whale'
Dead Letter Circus - 'This Is The Warning'
The Butterfly Effect - 'Imago'
And damn it, since you've already mentioned a couple of the best Australian alt-rock bands, why not just throw in what might be the best of all of them (and I think you might really like his vocals based on the list)
Karnivool - 'Sound Awake' or 'Themata'
'Sound Awake' is definitely more of a showcase of his vocals, and is more progressive than 'Themata', but 'Themata' is probably overall...catchier, in a Chevelle-esque sort of way (his voice is a little grittier).
And then...what else? OH! This one, too
Days Away - 'Mapping An Invisible World'
With each and every one of these albums, you will not go wrong with vocals. All of them are amazing singers with phenomenal range, I have no idea how they do the things they do. Just depends on your taste whether they'll work for you. |

01.26.21 | Thank You Scientist is so good. Recs are A1 as always, Masochist. |

01.26.21 | @Masochist Thanks for the response!
I tried and tried but I could not get into TYS. I really disliked the vocals. Same with Fair to Midland. His cleans are good but growls are awful and ruin it for me.
Secret was okay, thought it was a bit on the boring side. Couldn't get into Karnivool either.
I'll check out the others though. |

01.26.21 | I thought of another! You into pop punk at all, Alex? If so:
Yours Truly - Self Care / Afterglow
They are fairly standard, yet super catchy, pop punkers, but their vocalist can fucking soar and has great melodies. She is so good |
ReiniEden
01.26.21 | Dir En Grey man straight up.
I recommend Uroboros and Dum Spiro Spero.
Martin Grech - any album
Tamino who is similar to Martin Grech and Jeff Buckley. |
Casavir
01.26.21 | The first two Psychotic Waltz albums would be up your alley. Some of the best vocals out there. |
Alexagon
01.26.21 | I'm not really into pop punk, no. Not a fan of punk, nor pop rock really. Also, it's Alexa not Alex haha.
I'm also not specifically looking for female vox. I think the guys above in the thread made it seem that way lol.
I liked the sound of Enemies but there didn't seem to be any vocals so I'm not sure why that was recommended. Listened to some of the other stuff said on this thread but nothing is catching me so far. |

01.27.21 | Let's just go for broke then...
Mae - 'The Everglow' (just a good album that everyone ought to listen to once)
Manchester Orchestra - 'Black Mile To The Surface' (his vocals may not fit what you're looking for, but holy shit can he pour some emotions into them) |
Ecnalzen
01.27.21 | Have you ever listened to anything with Jonny Craig on vox? He might be a slightly terrible person but he has a helluva singing voice
A couple of the bands he has been kicked out of:
Dance Gavin Dance - Downtown Battle Mountain
Emarosa - S/t |
Alexagon
01.27.21 | @Masochist I haven't checked out Mae but have tried to get into Manchester. I do really like the vocals and overall sound on that album, but the rest of their discog didn't do it for me.
@Ecnalzen Yeah I have listened to DGD and early Emarosa. Like some stuff from both.
Right now I guess I'm looking for something kinda similar to Anberlin's heavier songs like The Resistance and Godspeed. Energetic, but not too high tempo, and with passionate vocals. The album by Sinew I posted did this fantastically as well.
I kinda liked the sound on Languages by The Contortionist but the vocals were not at all what I like. None of the other bands listed here did it for me. |
Alexagon
01.27.21 | I'm also not in the market for individual albums. I like finding a band where I can listen to most of the discog so I don't get burnt out on them for longer. |
Ecnalzen
01.28.21 | You are one of the most particular users I have ever tried to rec to
But I am compelled to figure out something new for you that you would like
It's a conundrum |
Alexagon
01.28.21 | I know dude it's a curse D':
After finding exactly what kind of music I like it's always been a struggle to find a band that sticks. I find maybe 1 new band a year at most that I listen to. |
Ecnalzen
01.28.21 | I'm checkin this Sinew since I am not familiar with them
Have you ever heard Bayside? His voice kinda reminds me of their vocalist.
I dunno, I really like this song by them, if you want to just try a sample:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-GQU2IdnPz0 |
Alexagon
01.29.21 | Hey sorry for the delayed response. I have checked out Bayside. The music is a bit too pop punky for me, but I do really like Sick, Sick, Sick. I'll check out the song you linked soon.
I was listening to Thursday's Common Existence the other day and I REALLY like the sound on that album. That and No Devolucion. The rest of the discog is a bit too punky for me but I have listened to them in the past. |
Ecnalzen
01.29.21 | I kinda feel like Bayside has been veering more into a alt/rock sound in their later stuff, but they still throw some pop punk in there every so often. I love their guitar work and Anthony's lyrics/vocals. The song I linked is on Cult, which is the album after the one with Sick Sick
I have heard No Devolucion but not Common Existence. Hmm.. what about O'Brother? Garden Window is a goodun and it has a similar kinda post rocky/post hardcore sound to it like No Dev. I have also always enjoyed his vox. Their earlier stuff (which is what I am linking) got a fair amount of Thrice comparisons. I have liked pretty much everything I have heard by them, too

Alexagon
01.30.21 | @Ecnalzen I have listened to O'Brother and I do like a few songs from them, but for whatever reason they didn't latch on to me. They are definitely the kind of sound I like though.
@porcupine I don't quite understand what your comment is getting at lol. |
