31 October/Halloween/Autumn Albums |
1 | | Type O Negative October Rust
gothic / doom / atmospheric / synthesizers
Feels like a pleasant walk in the woods. Super pretty, beautiful gothic rock that is one of my favorite albums of all time. Worth checking out even if you don't think you would be into the genre. |
2 | | GosT Possessor
electronic / slasher wave / dark wave / synth wave
Heavy, spooky electronic album that is well-paced. Good mix of legitimately heavy songs and more atmospheric stuff. Full of good samples and fun references to hysteria about demonic sacrifices. Heavy songs sound like a derange nightclub, softer ones like an 80's slasher flick. |
3 | | Ice Nine Kills The Silver Scream
metalcore / samples
Concept album where each song is a horror movie. If you're a fan of metalcore and horror, check this out. Songs might seem a little cheesy, but they still slap. |
4 | | Pumpkin Witch Hovel of the Pumpkin Witch
dungeon synth / minimalist
Ambient, dungeon synth band that put out three albums in three years. You will probably either love them or hate them. They make long, simple, unnerving songs that are equally laughable and disturbing. I have a soft spot for them and I love to listen to them while I read. |
5 | | Type O Negative Slow, Deep, and Hard
gothic / hardcore / punk / industrial
First album by TON ever. Songs are mostly about the singer wanting to kill his girlfriend. Good album were it makes you feel like you're the killer in the horror movie lol. This is TON at their most bizarre, for better or for worse. |
6 | | Misfits American Psycho
Re-listening soon. |
7 | | Pumpkin Witch In the Frightful Gaze of the Pumpkin Witch
dungeon synth / minimalist
Basically just more of the same from the first album. Some songs will stick out, but it mostly follows the same formula. |
8 | | Type O Negative Bloody Kisses
gothic / hardcore / punk / doom
Good mix of TON's early sound and more melodic/atmospheric sound. Feels like you're at a bender at a graveyard. |
9 | | AFI All Hallow's E.P.
Re-listening soon. |
10 | | Pumpkin Witch Final Strike of the Pumpkin Witch
Need to listen to this. |
11 | | Boards of Canada Geogaddi
idm / ambient / electronic
BOC at their most unsettling and darkest. Feels like going through the stages of dying and passing into the next life. Calm songs that are full of tension and sadness/anxiety. Pretty melodies throughout and some of BOC's best songs. |
12 | | Street Sects End Position
industrial / noise / experimental / electronic
Harsh, confrontational industrial album full of creepy samples and unpredictable song structures. Feels like you're stuck in the worst part of a metropolis trying to survive the night. |
13 | | Daughters You Won't Get What You Want
industrial / noise / experimental / post hardcore
Album features a lot of cool styles and genres. Songs and lyrics capture the feeling before a breakdown, going absolutely postal, and everything in-between. |
14 | | John Carpenter Halloween (2018)
soundtrack / dark ambient / slasher wave
Dark ambient with some louder parts but mostly just unsettling, atmospheric tracks. |
15 | | Salem (US) King Night
witch-house / electronic / dance
Probably the most well-known witch-house album of all time. Some of the songs are more electronic heavy while others are more rap heavy, but it is overall worth checking out. |
16 | | slint Spiderland
math-rock / post rock / post hardcore
One of my favorite albums of all time. Each song feels like you're going into a thicker fog or an abandoned ship. |
17 | | American Football American Football
emo / math rock / midwest emo / indie rock
Landmark emo album that is probably the chillest non-ambient album on this list. Very pretty guitar riffs that remind me of walking home after school in October and November. |
18 | | Nine Inch Nails Broken
industrial / industrial metal / electronic
One of the best EP's of all time. Full of rage, experimentation, and noise throughout. The short film that goes along with it is quite nightmare inducing. Each song feels like one of Jigsaw's traps ripping you apart with its instruments. |
19 | | Kim petras TURN OFF THE LIGHT
Need to listen to this. |
20 | | The Birthday Massacre Walking With Strangers
gothic / industrial / electronic / synths
Electronic and gothic rock with female vocals that features a lot of pretty, lush synths. One of the more positive spooky albums on the list. |
21 | | Dream Division The Devil Rides Out
Need to listen to this. |
22 | | Salvia Palth melanchole
Relistening soon. |
23 | | Bell Witch Longing
Relistening soon. |
24 | | Dragged Into Sunlight Hatred For Mankind
death metal / doom metal / black metal
Just a disgusting, crusty, depraved album. Songs are so negative and harsh sounding with no light at the end of the tunnel. |
25 | | GHOSTEMANE N/O/I/S/E
hip-hop / industrial / horror-core
Aggressive, heavy, harsh hip-hop. Lots of energy and creativity on this album. He mixes industrial and electronic sounds with his rapping in ways that compliment both. |
26 | | Prurient Through the Window
Need to listen to this. |
27 | | The Haxan Cloak Excavation
ambient / dark ambient / electronic
Cold and claustrophobic dark ambient album. Feel like you're stuck in the deepest mine shaft in the world, thousands of miles away from help. There are moments of beauty and melody on the album however. |
28 | | Black Sabbath Black Sabbath
Need to listen to this. |
29 | | Dead Can Dance Within the Realm of a Dying Sun
Need to listen to this. |
30 | | King Diamond Abigail
Need to listen to this. |
31 | | Dead Man's Bones Dead Man's Bones
indie / folk / alternative rock
Ryan Gosling's band album. Decent folk and folk rock that has a vaguely autumn/spooky vibe to it. |
