I haven't had a chance to hear it yet, but I'm excited.
|
| |
I don't know how I feel about this
|
| |
textured, cryptic, sterile.. Nick is de mon
|
| |
Fantastic song, really like the slow pace it took. Very happy to hear them continuing the sound of Push The Sky Away.
|
| |
it's so good
|

Man this is dark, even for Nick Cave.
|
| |
This album might be even BETTER than I thought.
|
| |
Oh my fucking God, album of the year confirmed, this is absolutely devastating
I don't know how to deal with all these emotions

Biggest nick cave fan in the world here.
His lyricism is on point as always., there is no doubt that he can put words together.
Not at all convinced with the actual "song" though.
For such a heavy track it doesn't have any actual weight.
I appreciate what they did with PTSA with the loops and everything but there were actual songs built around them and cave was singing enough to make you open your own mouth and sing along, which has always been the thing I appreciate most. I don't put on his music to lie down and relax and meditate, I put it on to partake, something that isn't possible in this case.
I understand how sensitive the circumstance is, and I just wish he will get this over with as soon as possible. Maybe one day he'll go back to his early 00s style, but somehow I doubt it.
Let's hope the album will be a more interesting experience overall at least. Even if it follows the same note I won't consider it a failure, but I can't see myself constantly spinning it like the rest of his discography.

The music honest to God sounds like the world is falling apart. The room feels colder listening to it.
This song (and likely album as a whole) has no interest in Cave's earlier tendency towards fire and brimstone fury and storms rolling across the plains. This is music for a world long dead, and it sounds it, and it feels it. Nick's heartbreak here is so unbelievably palpable.

I don't always love everything by these guys, but I absolutely vibed with this.
|
| |
this is absolutely fucking desolate I love it
|
| |
Bleak. Love it.
|
| |
heell yes
|

I know what you're feeling, tastepolice.
Given the circumstances this very well may be Nick's personal exorcism and prayer but from a musical standpoint this is even more impenetrable than some of the more obscure cuts on PTSA. I was waiting for some sort of explosion for the whole track and those violins were definitely teasing me but nothing really came. Seems like it wasn't even supposed to.
As a Bad Seeds fan I just hope that not the whole record consists of such self-contained one-note meditation pieces.
|
| |
it quite clearly wasn't supposed to you're right there
|
| |
"Man this is dark, even for Nick Cave."
Not surprised
|
| |
"You believe in God but you get no special dispensation for this belief now"
Wow
|
| |
yeah that line gave me chills
|
| |
hyped
|
| |
it's so good. the vulnerability in his voice when he sings the chorus is heartbreaking
|
| |
"Man this is dark, even for Nick Cave."
Knowing that his son's death inspired this album, I'd imagine this is going to be his darkest.
|
| |
the man
|
| |
this new Nick Cave album doe
|
| |
How is it?
|
| |
im seeing the movie tonight so im waiting till after to hear it
|
| |
Great, so this album's actually gonna break me huh
This track is pretty magnificent, captures the bleakness perfectly.
|
| |
I was actually starting to wonder if music could still physically affect me like it used to. Like I still get emotional at stuff but it had been a long long time since I had a visceral, physical reaction to a piece of music. Distant Sky got me harder than anything I've ever heard before.
|
| |
Can't wait to listen, hopefully will in an hour. It's only 40 minutes long I think
|
| |
Just under. The closing trio of songs is as close to perfect as he's ever achieved I think
|
| |
fuuck im struggling not to give into listening to it
|
| |
You got tickets to the movie, Man, imagine the effect that's going to have if you're hearing everything there for the first time. Hold out!
|
| |
thats what im doing man, cant freaking wait four hours to go
|
| |
claustrophobic grief
|
| |
This is really cool so far, pretty much continuing from where Push The Sky Away left off. Very excited to get to the last few songs given what Rowan said.
|
| |
Fuck, I can't go see the movie tonight. God damn it.
|
| |
These are some of his best lyrics too, damn what a powerful record.
|
| |
So where should I start with this band? This record seems to be getting some crazy acclaim already, and I feel that starting with this new record wouldn't be the best idea from a artist that's so prolific.
|
| |
Thank you!
|
| |
Oh my God, One More Time with Feeling was some insanely powerful stuff, first time I cried in a movie in I don't know how fucking long
|
| |
I'm sure they will, it's incredibly well made as a piece of cinema, as well, and Andrew Dominik's got an audience of his own. It'd be a travesty if they didn't put it out there at some point. Sooner rather than later, hopefully
|
| |
Saw it. Very compelling, not gonna lie. Beautiful camera work and a very eery feeling of peeking right down somebody's ruptured guts.
|
| |
Wow, this is some menacing stuff. Gonna have to check out the rest of this album.
