"modern Deathcore sucks so much"
you're almost making it sound as if it was any good ten years ago, when the smelly scene kids flooded the scene

I only ever heard one album by these (Desolation Of Eden) but that was enough to make sure I would never listen to another. Recreant was perhaps the only half-tolerable moment on that album, and this is coming from someone who was a full on emo at the time who loved all that crap.

There's plenty of great deathcore bands old and new, but Chelsea Grin has always ranged from bottom-of-the-barrel generic chugfest to occasional mid-tier deathcore and nothing more than that.
They also suck live. I remember catching a set of theirs at a festival a few years back and I've never heard a band before or since with a rhythm section so out of time with each other, which is impressive given how basic their rhythms are.

"There's plenty of great deathcore bands"
I'm sorry but I can promise that there are NOT plenty. There are maybe 10, and none of them have been recent. Shadow of Intent are the closest I guess, but they're a small step away from melodic death metal.
I honestly thought these dudes vanished. Deathcore double-album sounds like something designed for torture purposes only. . . . .
|
| |
Thy Art Is Murder were okay, Suicide Silence were pretty good fun
|
| |
Any vocalist that isnt Will Ramos is boring now
|
| |
Ramos is the only thing that makes Lorna Shore somewhat interesting.

"I honestly thought these dudes vanished. Deathcore double-album sounds like something designed for torture purposes only. . . . ."
Slept on comment for sure
|
| |
symphonic/orchestral shit is plaguing the deathcore scene jesus lol
|
| |
Symphonic deathcore has the potential to be pure bombastic cheesefest fun (see: Ovid's Withering), but most have zero clue how to use it effectively.
|
| |
all hopelessly tasteless commenters aside - this song slaps, as does the amazing video. really looking forward to the double album. chelsea grin is back on track.
|
| |
Always enjoyed how a solid 60% of comments under deathcore content here continues to be people who do not like deathcore lol. This song is bad though.
|
| |
i love me some good deathcore but i'm so burnt out of the symphonic shit
|
| |
They really went and wasted two awesome albums cover arts on Chelsea fucking Grin. A crime against humanity.
|
| |
Track was meh, I've heard much better from them. Might check out the rest once its out as long as the first few tracks aren't a slog.
|
| |
you're almost making it sound as if it was any good ten years ago, when the smelly scene kids flooded the scene
correct, but the sound back then wasn't so god damned overproduced and unlistenable to me (hi pika ^•^)
|
| |
+ i really like Awaken the Dreamers and early The Faceless
|
| |
The world needed not one but two fucking discs from these theys.
|
| |
Please dont let this be the last recorded audio we get of Trevor Strnad.
|
| |
I dig this.
Great song ftw
|
| |
Animosity and The Red Chord need to come back and show these dweebs who’s boss
|
| |
actually enjoyed this quite a bit
|
| |
There's very few good deathcore bands.
All shall perish, the red chord,Animosity and recently Shadow of Intent.
That's about it.
|
| |
The most meh track they've put out in while... LET ME HEAR THE FUCKING RIFFS
EDIT: If there were any is an important addition... I think there's maybe one in there somewhere.
|

Every time I visit the sputnik forums I always forget how this site attracts so many elitist keyboard warriors.
Song feels like it leans a little too much into "heavy = good" instead of dynamic songwriting. Their rhythmic approach to orchestration felt a little more foundational to the track composition, instead of a melodic layer on top. Good track overall.

Boo! Hiss! Deathcore is something that should only be heard in prison or interrogations! Boo! Hiss!
|
| |
fuck this. Damaar is where it's at
