Metal-archives owns you.
Good review. Fairly accurate too. Sex on a CD, this is, though given it a 5/5, I wouldn't have. Watch Star Wars earlier today, did I.

Not a 5/5 but this album is incredible. And the great cold Death of the Earth is one of my favorites.

I love this album, and also very proud they have came from my hometown. :thumb:

Velvet Caccoon are still the coolest Portland based band.

Good review, though I've only heard I Am The Wooden Doors. I like Agalloch, though I still prefer Opeth (who happens to be my favourite group, so I'm biased). I'll have to buy this eventually, I really enjoy everything I've heard from Agalloch.
I also had no idea they're from Portland. I presumed they were European, they have a very Scandinavian sound.

Especially the nature folk business. I was suprised too.
|
| |
Hmmm, I've been meaning to listen to them as I've heard they sound a lot akin to Opeth or even more so Ulver.
If you like folkish black metal check out Ulver's Bergtatt Album if you haven't already.

Bergtatt is a winner of an album, but this is much different from that. This is... just different.

In The Shadow Of Our Pale Companion is an amazingly perfect song. I was listening to this album again in the last couple of days and by Jove it is good. I still give it a 5/5. That means replay value.

One of the best albums EVER.

High five to you my brother. This album is so great. This album also has the best sweep pick ever. At the 12 minute mark of In the Celebration of OUr Pale Companion, there is one single sweep and it is the only one on the whole album. It is the most dynamic powerful sweep I've ever heard. It's this perfect transition and just is the perfect apex to a song.
A band this is very similar to is EmpyriumThis Message Edited On 09.04.05

are the vocals on the second track the same on all the others? Cause I don't really like them, but I love the musicThis Message Edited On 09.28.05

Yes, the vocals are very alike. Except the singing is a little bit better on the other tracks.
And that sweep is orgasmic! This Message Edited On 09.28.05

Stop lying.
Actually, I haven't heard Pale Folklore.

Good review, I love this album. I love this band.
Can't wait for new one!

Ehh, I prefer this to Pale Folklore quite a bit. I'm still not sure why people prefer that one.
