0 of 3 thought this review was well written
1. Welcome- I like this song a lot. It’s kind of mellow at the start, then builds to a heavier
part, then slows back down at the end. It has nice transition between the soft and hard
parts. 4/5
2. Freak Out- This is one of my favorite 311 songs of all time. It is one of their harder
songs, but once again, has some mellow stuff in it, and once again, it transitions very
smoothly. This is a great song to “freak out" to. 5/5
3. Visit- Great song. It has hard and soft parts again, and again, transitions very well. This
has always been one of my favorite 311 songs as well. It also has a little guitar solo at the
end that is very cool. 4.5/5
4. Paradise- Although this is a good song, it doesn’t transition very well from hard to soft.
It starts out all hard core and you think it’s gonna be a hard song, but as soon as Nick
starts singing, it slows way down and turns into some reggae beat. Then, as soon as S.A.
starts, it gets all hard again. This is a good song, but definitely not my favorite. 3.5/5
5. Unity- I love this song. This is one of the only songs on the whole album that keeps one
steady style through the whole song. This is one of their most hard core songs and it also
has a good message. 4.5/5
6. Hydroponic- This is a classic 311 song. I’m not the biggest fan of this song because it
moves very slowly. It’s basically just two guitar riffs the whole song. I don’t like that very
much. Nevertheless, it is a classic 311 song and you can’t help but love it. 3.5/5
7. My Stoney Baby- This is one of my favorite songs on this album. It’s kind of a slower
one, but slow songs can be good too. The guitar is definitely the high point of this song.
The riff at the very beginning is really catchy and you can’t help but smile when you hear
it. 4.5/5
8. Nix Hex- This song is really unique. To this day, I’ve never heard another song like it.
It’s a really good song, but what the hell is “the Nix Hex?" This is also kind of a slow
song. It’s a pretty good one, but it kind of gets old after you’ve heard it a lot. 3.5/5
9. Plain- This song shows that you can have a great song without any crazy solos or
anything. I like the drums a lot throughout the whole song. This song also has slow and
fast parts and transitions awesomely between them. This is a great song. 4.5/5
10. Feels so Good- I love this song. This also one of their classics. They play this song at
just about every show they play at. This song, like unity, is a hard song that keeps the
same style through the whole song. When you hear this song, you can’t stop bobbing your
head. I love it. There’s a bass solo near the end of the song. Man it’s amazing. It’s
probably P-nut’s most famous bass solo. Ahh, what more can you say about this song. It’s
amazing. 5/5
11. Do you Right- This is a good, soft song about just kickin’ back, relaxing, and havin’ a
good time. It’s a good one. The music fits the lyrics really well and they don’t try to
switch the style up in the middle of the song either. This is a really good song. 4.5/5
12. Fat Chance- I don’t know what they were trying to accomplish by putting this song on
the album. The whole song, they’re basically singing about their management or
something. Near the end of the song they start chanting “Eddie Offord," who is their
manager. This is just a weird song. They should have put songs like Summer of Love, or
This too Shall Pass instead, but about 10 seconds after the song ends, there is a bonus
track. I won’t say what it is. If you’re a hard core 311 fan, you’ll know what it is. 2.5/5

Fat Chance isn't that good. In fact it's total crap. /sarcasm.

this album is brutal, the production is terrible and the songwriting lacks focus. the playing is pretty good, but self-indulgent.

Favorite 311 album, Unity, Plain, and Feels So Good are amazing. Unfortunately alot of people on this forum are very critical of 311 and miss the message of their music: Positivity. Great to just chill and clear my mind to.

311 was all downhill after this album. I say that because this album is amazing and they couldn't possibly have done anything better.

I'd give Nix Hex a 4.5
| | | Welcome is probably my favorite 311 song EVER! and Music ,along with their self-titled, are probably my favorite
i love 311...very underapprecitated band
| | | and fat chance has some sick bass if you have good subs

Damn this album is so good. It is very original! Some of the stuff on here is really funky and jazzy. The riffs, as always, are to die for.
Of course P-Nut signature slap bass is also included in the album. Pick it up! If you haven't listened to this early 311 masterpiece, go now!

Too bad 311 don't write quality stuff like this anymore.
Great album, sh*t review. I don't feel like anyone would actually learn anything about the band or their songs from this review, it's all just "I like this song" or "they should have left this song out". You obviously know this cd well; try writing about how the album flows, what they're trying to say, the highs and lows, how the songs are supposed to make the audience feel.

I love this album so much, this is an excellent display of energy and creativity when these guys were young. Already they showed how diverse they are and all their different influences. Very groovy and fun record, great to chill out to.
As for the review.... well, the only thing I learned from this album was that 'Eddie Offord' was the bands manager. If I had never heard this record before I still would not know anything about it after reading your review.
| | | This is the only album 311 can say was real. There other albums are amazing and I can honestly say the weren't one hit wonders like some bands, where they have an amazing first album and then suck. But 311 has progressed with the styles and influences, but in my opinion this is the real stuff. They didn't use enhancements, they didn't make a blank album. 311 made an album that was them jamming and having fun and I highly respect anything they do.
| | | Also the review was obviously written by an imbecilic person because, saying "It's kind of a slower one, but slow songs can be good too." is one of the most ignorant things I have ever heard. A band can't all be fast high point songs because then where is the emotion and any evidence of passion? A real musician needs to have a range of songs that are high points and low points. This review doesn't capture the essence of 311 or there credibility.
