666 Ways To Love Is an EP put out by HIM in Finland, 1996. This was their first studio effort. 1000 copies were produced and the cost of this today, is up to $700. This includes one of their most important singles - "Wicked Game". (cover by Chris Issack.) The woman featured on the cover is Ville Valo's mother, taken in the 60's.
Stigmata Diaboli (2:57)
The first track on the album starts out right away with heavy hitting guitar, drums, bass, and and screaming in the background. The eerie vocals and screaming really adds to the atmosphere of the song. This track is really fun just to rock out to. It doesn't have a guitar solo, and it's a bit short however, still a excellent song. (4.5/5)
Wicked Game (3:54)
The track "Wicked Game" is originally performed by Chris Issack. HIM gives this track some more life to it by adding some catchy, also heavy guitar. I would have really enjoyed a nice solo by Linde but this does okay. This was HIM's first single and one of their most well known. I really enjoy the lyrics, althought they are really Chris issack's. "What a wicked game to play to make me feel this way, what a wicked thing to do to make me dream of you" I believe HIM did a great job with this cover. (4/5)
Dark Sekret Love (5:16)
Starts out quiet with wispers and after a a few seconds a heavy guitar comes in. This song is very heavy, not fast, but melodic. This song really sounds evil because of the repeated use of the number "666" and the constant screeches on the guitar. A woman is also featured singing on this song, and during the chorus they chant "are 666 has got a name we buried its flames again and again for it is our dark secret love" As the song progresses, it gets a little more upbeat and they start chanting faster and their is a a lot of "ooh ahhs" towards the end. (5/5)
The Heartless (4:20)
This is a ballad off this album is one of my favorites by HIM. This is a very melodic and atmospheric track. This song is about a person that has no one to love and can't seem to find anybody in life. (I guess you could tell from the title). At about 2:30 in the song it gets quiet and you think it"s just about over, however you are smacked in the face with a heavy distorted breakdown. The song finishes with a chorus and fades away. A very good ending for the EP. (4.5/5)
This album is extremely hard to find, so if you can't get it then you can easily download some of these songs off of itunes or Limewire. I especially recomend "Dark Sekret Love". Leave comments on what you liked or disliked about my review and if you think I may need improvement. - Nightside :)
