La Dispute doesn’t have any cringe albums. But some cringe lyrics on first album for sure. Still overall a great album

"I see the word "cringe" often when this album is discussed, but never any reasons as to what makes it so cringey."
it's entirely the lyrics, particularly the overuse of "darling" in a particularly whiny tone. Like, the entire album is about a bad breakup, and he's practically coming up with a mythology to describe how sad his breakup is.
then cut to Wildlife and he's writing these gut-punches about guilt and suicide and watching a city decay and wrestling with faith in the midst of tragedy

If anything it's the vocals. Dude always sounds like he's on the verge of tears.
That isn't me trying to be edgy, it's legit what most turns me off these guys

Safer in the Forest has grown to be my favorite song here, overtaking King Park and Edward Benz. Shit, I might even say it’s my favorite LD song period.

I dismissed this when it came out (tbf it's hard to follow their debut) but I've finally come around to it a whopping 9 years later! Harder Harmonies, Edit your Hometown and Kind Park are incredible!

yeah if this album were formatted any other way, i'd expect a calm after King Park but nah, Edward fucking Benz cuz clearly we should be emotionally steeled by then
