Yea you can definitely tell his voice is dying on this album, it’s especially obvious if you go back and listen to Resurrection Through Carnage. I remember when I saw Opeth live WAY back in the day, Akerfeldt was chain smoking Marlboro lights, talking about how he was gonna have a hole in his throat one day to growl out of.

3? Whoever wrote this review is high on smack. This is by far my favorite bloodbath album aside from unblessing the purity ep and nightmares made flesh. The riffs are killer. Nystrom slays. The per sodomizer solos are flawless, the axenrot drumming is perfect and the vocals are super guttural, more so than any opeth album. 3 is a crime against common sense. 4 at the least. 5 imo.
