Akerfeldts finest performance bar none.

Not even close ; ). Have you listened to every Opeth album?
|
| |
Agreed.
Vocals in Opeth > vocals in Katatonia only because I've never heard of Katatonia until now.

I like two Opeth albums and half of Ghost Reveries. Other than that I dont give two flying fucks about Opeth and their Sputnik grammy nominated best sellers. This compares with Akerfeldt's finest works.
Guy in front of me's post makes zero fucking sense.

But he doesn't use his cleans on this album. That's what makes Mikaels vocals in Opeth superior.

His growls are better than his cleans.

They are still two completely different entities so comparing them is kind of strange.
Not at all seeing as Mikael growls on both.
Also Mikaels cleans in Opeth are pretty much always perfect but some of his growls could have been made better so what's the point you're trying to make here?
There is never a point here, it's Sputnik. Friendly arguments all around.

Hahahah I know you're kidding ; ).
I hear where your going with this. However, giving this a fair amount of listens over the past two days (6 according to my Ipod count), I can hear where Mikael took a trick or two with some of the doomier riffs and applied them to more recent Opeth records. There are similarities gallore between these two bands.

and it's interesting you say mikael took them from this band

Because he clearly did. Listen to anything from post-My Arms, Your Hearse and you can clearly hear how Mikael has incorporated some of these riffs into his stuff. Made Opeth a hell of a lot better over the years, thats for sure.
Benzum is a the biggest loser on this site ; ).

Perfection is faggotism. Akerfeldts growls on here are more rawer and more painful, angsty, and throat tearing. I suppose I prefer the dark melodic metal vibe of Katatonia over the ""dynamic"" clean to heavy shifts of Opeth.

also wizard to get back to our offline convo, I never said the debut ep was better than this what were you talking about

Thank you Wizard and fire.
Autumnblaze almost comes close minus the vocals but really, a band needs to step up and merge Katatonia's dark melodicism with teeth gnashing black metal or the doomish variety, which ever works better.

I think I misinterpreted you when you said they have an E.P. that was better than this. Maybe I was a bit tipsy that night as well....who knows.
Balls are you accusing me of faggotism?
I'm accussing you of this because of your lack of respect towards Opeth ; ). Jk bro.
