No, that's pretty much the only MTV show I watch.

All right, now we wait for this to get back on topic.

I don't see what the big deal is. It just sounds like most other rap to me. In other words, I dislike it with a passion.
But hey, whatever blows up your skirt.

The Streets sounds like most other rap?

This probably the only rap album I extremely enjoy. Beautifully exectuted.

Yeah, it does sound like other rap. The songs I've heard, the guy is still talking about how much skill he has.
God forbid someone could make a rap album where they aren't bragging senselessly.

On the other hand, this is another example of white British guys mimicking the music of African-Americans with great (?) success. However, instead of trying to sound less "English" like the Rolling Stones did, this guy is just plain limey. No problem, deception is bad anyway.

That's more OPM though, as this one's a concept album there really isn't a lot of room for that.
This is rap, but not as we know it.

This album IMO is genius.
I have to pick up his first CD though.
The story is so perfect it doesnt sound like an album... More like a book set to music.

Yeah, this is a good album. I probably prefer his debut these days, on balance, but I'd like to hear what he does next, which is meant to be out this year. It's going to be hard for him even to come close to equalling critical expectations.

I love this album. The story behind it just seems so plausible to me, it's actually probably one of the most believable concepts behind an album that I've heard. There's also a number of moments where I can really identify with what Mike is saying. Ie; tracks like Blinded By The Lights, What Is He Thinking and Empty Cans.

I just noticed a mistake in the review. It's to do with what the story of 'What Is He Thinking?'.
Mike actually goes to Scotts place, where he sees his coat draped over a chair. It got there because Simon took it from Mike's place to her's, and then Dan mistook it for Simon's coat, where he wore it to Scott's after he nailed her. Mike then thinks that Scott has been screwing him over, until Scott comes clean in the final verse.

I heard The Street's new single, it wasn't bad, neither was the video. I think its more of a Fit but Don't You Know It" style of song, which isn't bad.

MIKE SKINNER rules. cant wait til `The hardest way to make an easy living` even though ` when you wasnt famous` sounds like a bad version of ` fit but you know it`

Yeh I love the energy of this album, the story running through it makes it almost more than a concept album(?). But at the same time most of the songs can stand alone also. And i think it would sound like all other rap. If all other rap was ironic.

Have you heard his most recent effort yet? After his first two albums it's really quite disappointing. A lot of the humour that made his first two albums so good seems to have virtually evaporated. :-/
