This album definitely had its share of influence on future bands, but most of them also learned from this album's mistakes, IMO. Tracks 2 through 7 are totally cheesy.

The only song I would call cheesy is easily Of Dreams and Drama. The two folk tracks aren't remotely cheesy, Vampiria and Erotic Alchemy are theatrical, and because most bands don't do anything like that it comes off as cheesy.

Theatrical vs. Cheese within the realms of metal is a narrow distinction that changes with each listener

I think Nightwish is cheesy as fuck, but there are tons of people that swear by that band.

I understand why you, among many others consider this cheesy, also Fernando's accent was really bad back then. But this is one hell of an album, and it surely has influenced lots of gothic metal bands and stuff.
Vampiria is still a live fan favourite, the feeling is awsome.

I don't like Nightwish at all. Except Oceanborn. That sounded like something daringly different for that time.
About Wolfheart, this album's great and the vocals aren't that bad. I don't find them cheesy or annoying.

I respect the review but disagree with most of what you say. Honestly I think you come off rather
jaded and, by not taking the album/band seriously, of course you won't apprehend it to its full
extent.
This was the first album from Moonspell I listened to, and it's still my favorite alongside
Irreligious. Why? The lyrical content is mythical and pagan, in a very refreshing way. The music is
very good, magical at times and drives your emotions along all the scenes described. You might not
be taken by the vocals at first but there's nothing fake there, these songs are vocalized with
feeling.
Shamelessly using the albums content, I'd recommend this to anyone who can close their eyes and
dream of being with the wolfpack, running though snowy forests and howling to the Silver Eye over
forever lost nights of Passion and Doom...

Holy shit... and I mean that in the best possible way ;) If you wrote that last part without pissing yourself with laughter, then I can see how we may differ on our views of the album.

Pretty great album but would have definitely benefited from less hokey theatrical elements.

2.5 ? C'mon, the last two tracks are just flawless. The reviewer is not enough open minded for that album...

Not open minded enough? Look at my ratings and my pie chart. I'm open to all kinds of music. Alma Mater is an awesome song. The rest is hit or miss.

This is an Excellent record, can't agree with most of the comments I've seen on this thread. Not as perfect as many want to make it look, but very enjoyable nonetheless.
