this album is wierd in like every sense of the word. it sorta gives us a look into the mind of a madman. like in lucifer sam concentrating on a song and keeping a good rythum but in your left ear some little blurbs of nothing in the back of your mind. but all things aside this album is a Psychedelic master piece. worth buying, downloading, whatever if your a fan of the beatles Psychedelic rock. and even if you are a pink floyd fan to see where the band we love got its start.

Took me a while to get into this album, but I love it now :D

This and Syd 's solo work are both worth checking out :thumb:

I dislike Syd's solo work, it's all boring acoustic stuff

Good point, most of his songs do tend to get boring due to not venturing out of acoustic. But it is good to listen to when relaxing(Just like every other Pink Floyd/solo Gilmour song :p) I especially like The Madcap Laughs.

Psychedelia in a nutshell
Fantastic, almost funny in the way it sounds so cliched...truth is, this album invented all those cliches
Shame Syd had to go nuts

This album is really starting to flourish on me. I really love Matilda Mother, Flaming and Chapter 24 is curiously listenable.

Better than Pepper's? I don't know. I actually don't really think that SPLHCB is truly psychedelic. It's kind of a pop album (which I love!) that has some psychedelic tendencies. This is a true psychedelic record. Apples and oranges. I like 'em both.

Hey well most of the stuff you said that was genius was in the producing and just the blueprints of the songs but im wondering is an album that you can listen to adn like because i have older pink floyd such as"dark side fo the moon" "the wall""Wish you were here" "momentary lapse of reason" "the final cut"

What. The. Fuck.

Learn some English man (?), for God's sake!

Also, there is no "Older Pink Floyd" than Piper, appart from the two singles Arnold Layne and See Emily Play (and a couple of other really ancient demos that have Rado Klose playing guitar on them).

Also. The quality of this album is overexagerrated ever so slightly. It has some absolutely amazing songs on it (Astronomy Domine, Bike, Interstellar Overdrive and Pow R Toc H) but the rest are mostly average, or even horrible (we could have done without The Scarecrow and Flaming, and about half of Chapter 24. Also, Take Up Thy Stethescope and Walk is an absolute shocker, and The Gnome is just irritating).

Somehow, I'm still compelled to give it five out of five.

you gave it 5 when you said that half the album are shockers.

No, I said that two were shockers, and that another two just shouldn't have been included (ie: Scarecrow and Flaming). If those two had been substituted for Arnold Layne and See Emily Play, then the album would have been a lot stronger.

But there's something about it that just makes me want to say "five", even if a couple of songs suck.
