Wow, that rating is crazy you got right there. I can't listen to more than two tracks now before realizing how horrible of a lyricist this man is. And none of these beats are his...this album is just wrong. There was no need to spit over two discs worth of borrowed beats. This Message Edited On 12.22.08
Do you know anything of pop culture? Its called rap, get used to it.
It doesn't matter if it's pop culture, it's still wrong.

Rap is pretty much just for entertainment, it's not something your likely to listen to if you're looking for talent.

Thats the most ignorant statement I've heard all day. Rap music is brimming with talent, and 'just for entertainment' is a phrase that can be attributed to any genre of music. It takes wit, poetic skills, social awareness, the ability to control/rock a mic (which basically means keep the crowd entertained), flow, and several other things depending on what style of rap your into to be a good rapper. And in mainstream rap music the word 'Da' commonly replaces 'The' and to get picky about something that tiny is pointless. This Message Edited On 12.22.08

I can't understand how this album can get so much recognition for lazily spitting crappy lyrics over borrowed beats and like a million bajillion other better albums just get lost in the fray.

Borrowed Beats? It's called a mixtape, learn to live with it.

I can see how someone would hate this, but I really like it. Wayne's rhymes have a fair amount of wit and charm, and the beats used completely fits Wayne's lyrics.

His lyrics bring absolutely nothing to the table...do we really need to listen to a whole 2 Disc tape just to hear him brag about himself? I mean its fun to an extent, I don't hate the shit, but how can you rate it so close to a classic? And not all mix-tapes borrow beats, a lot of them do but that doesn't define the mix-tape. so you're saying that, in order for a mixtape to be good, it must not borrow beats. Pretty much all hip hop mixtapes do, and if they don't, its mostly B-Side work anyway.

I never said rappers should never borrow beats. I rap sometimes myself, and I think it's very fun to borrow other peoples beats. But a 2 Disc collection of borrowed beats? That is the laziest fucking thing I've ever heard of. So how is this a 4.5/5? Nothing is original, most of the verses are typical Wayne brag-fests, his flow is tight but that isn't enough to solely make an album a 4.5 out of 5.

the Wayne-brag fests is why i love the rapper. It's not like he's a poet or anything, but something about it is charming, plus some of the lyrics are really witty. As for the beats, he raps over them in a way the orignal rappers never could, thus making an improvement over them. Also, as you said, his flows is incredibly tight.

I just find bragging in rap to be tedious and pointless, its so opposite of what the originators of the genre were trying to point out (yet modern whack ass rappers always claim those OG's as their primary influences, loltehwut). The rappers who originally had these beats are mostly mediocre anyway, and imo good flow and lyrical charm is too simple of an equation to equal anything great. This Message Edited On 12.22.08

Whats so bad about my reasoning? For a 'Contributing' reviewer you don't contribute much to the conversation, your acting very immature.

Ah yes, now your getting it. I'd just like to know what you think is so terrible about my reason for disliking this crap, what if there's something I'm missing? Its more helpful to just tell the person what you think their doing wrong, simpleton ridicule is childish behavior. This Message Edited On 12.22.08

well how you don't like this cause of 'borrowed beats' because you find it 'lazy' shows you dont know what you're talking about

I know exactly what I'm talking about, I've listened to this album a lot. Also how does that 'show I don't know what I'm talking about'? The lack of originality in both the lyrics and the beats knocks it down at least a point. Wayne can't seem to grasp musical evolution, he's never released a single track that doesn't feature his massive ego. On Dead Presidents Curren$y showed us that Lil' Wayne can be killed on his own track by a less experienced rapper. Lil' Wayne is far too reliant on simplistic similes. Lil' Wayne's flow is ruined by his disgusting, goblin-like voice. Lil' Wayne never, ever brings a new, exciting, or at least intellectual topic to the table, pushing rap further down the dummy hole.
