The new edition of Nothing is pretty sluggish and uninspired imo. They used an 8-string guitar this time and they increased the length on some of the songs.

wait.. so different instruments are in different time signatures, at the same time? Don Cab have done that before, and it's not pretty.

Did anyone else notice how the last track on the album IS mainly white noise, but at about 11 minutes, they play 3-4 or tracks at the same time?

mmm...I think this is my favorite Meshuggah now. It's just solid all around, where I feel their others have some weak points.
That opening riff to The Mouth Licking What You've Bled is intense as fuck.
But That white noise really kinda kills Elastic.

How does it KILL the song?
You can just cut it off with wavepad or something and add a quick fade out; makes the song a whole lot better as a mp3.

I just feel like it was an incredibly cheap way to extend a song. They easily could've ade that song long like "I" by adding different parts. Instead, they chose to fill up space with crap. It could've been used as a cool buildup, but imo shouldn't have losted longer than 20-30 seconds. We get it for like 6 minutes.

I agree, the white noise is annoying but I don't see it as a cheap way to extend the song. Seems to me like they're goofing around trying to test the die-hards endurance or just to piss people off.
Btw have you heard the song War? I'd recommend you DL that one ASAP; absolutely nuts and fastest Mesh song to date.

I have tried hard to get into this band but i just can't. The singer really kills their songs, just generic screaming

This album kicked me in the balls constantly, but left me wanting more.
It would have to be on of the most intense listening experiences I have had the pleasure of encountering. The drums are meaty, guitars insanely complicated and brutal, and Jens' vocals are perfect.
My fav song would have to be New Millenium Cyanide Christ purely because it was such a menacing and heavy track entwined with the unusual timing, it just blew my mind away.
I rate this a 4.5/5 only because of the noise at the end.

I think it's a bit unfair to say Elastic is nothing but white noise. It's a song for the first four or five minutes and it's definately my favourite song on the album.

like what you're digging ^^
and tbh, the repetitiveness of this album kind of kills it more than white noise in 'Elastic'.

I wish everyone heard Meshuggah the way that I do, your lives would honestly be so much better. I can listen to any of their albums at any time. I genuinely wish everyone heard it the same. It sounds crazy, but the repetitiveness is the beauty of Meshuggah, I always say, their music is like a never ending machine that keeps adding mechanisms, and slowly drives itself into your brain, making all other music sound irrelevant.

I never owned this disc, but when they played it live you can be sure I had to scrape my scalp off of some melted face standing next to me.

His voice suits the band's music. All tracks here are amazing, especially Corridor of Chameleons.
