I thought this sounded pretty boring, but this another album I need to listen to again.

I enjoyed this album, I still do. Great band that tries to bring about post metal instead of post rock. The repetitive Explosions in the Sky and similar droning bands made me give up on post rock. ITTCT brought back hope with a lot of diversity for a post rock band, a mix of emotional slow parts and heavy riffs. Too bad those riffs are utterly simple and the songs tend to blend to much together. Still, it's only their first LP effort and while there is a lot to improve there's a lot of time...hopefully.

it's not the droning of those kind of post-rock bands which put me off, more so the general epic wankery which is ultimately boring. some can pull it off (mono come to mind) but this band is certainly a breath of fresh air. but, they do have another LP before this one, self titled.

Actually that was an EP, though some think of it as an LP. Doesn't matter though, this album is an improvement nonetheless, though I really enjoyed Malabar Front.

I forgot about Mono, thanks for reminding me.

This band has a lot more going on in their music than I'm used to with the post rock genre.

This band added my band on myspace when we still existed. We had really similar sounds. I kinda thought we had found a unique (ish) sound with the noodly post-rock thing but with heavy sections, etc. but then I heard this band. They're cool. Not really sure why I'm still talking about this.

Yeah. I saw Daughters open for them right after the release of Hell Songs and the juxtaposition of Daughters' intensity and Russian Circles' slowness made me literally fall asleep during RC set.

I was there to see RC too, I had never heard of Daughters but now things are different.

Lol. Enter is still cool. I like it better than their other stuff. Just sometimes they remind me of what Metallica would be with no vocals and that's weird.

I guess I prefer a spacier post-metal sound is all. They come off as kind of dry and plodding as opposed to stormy and epic. imho of course.

This album beats the appeal out of tremolo picking and becomes tiring after the 6th track, but the bass is pretty good on some tracks.

This album has a definite theme. Its limits seem conscious, and what I like about is just the opposite of its ham-handed reach for a wall of "epicness." It's got a precarious sound that teases out wayfaring and the nuances of valor--more ignoble than Explosions and less spiritual than Mono. The last track is indicative. It's part Post-Rock, part Furniture Music, and it has a crusty sound that makes the naturalistic conceit viable.

That said, @NovaSilver I don't think this band is going to get big. Yay!
