I finally got this in the mail the other day. It is definitely different than the other two albums they've put out, but I think I'm starting to like it a lot. The first 4 tracks are very solid, especially the middle to end part of Got Jealous.

I think that it is J. Lorens best writing yet when it comes to the lyrics, but musically I think the other two albums are better. It is still very solid.

Agreed but I kinda liked the change in the music. Pandora, Pills, Wars and Dreams Away have to be my favorites from the album.

I just can't seem to get the ending track out of my head. It's so hilarious and very true.

so i saw hurt in concert for the fifth time last night, and it reinforced everything i felt about this album. its not bad, per se, but it isn't good. the best four songs of the night were the only four (ugh) that they played from old albums (better, ten ton brick, thank you for listening, rapture). the songs were better live than they were on the album, but they still were nothing compared to the older, better songs. i would put last nights show dead last in comparison to the other times i've seen them, and its entirely because they played almost exclusively songs from goodbye to the machine. i was ready to call it a complete failure until they played thank you and rapture as their encore, which really saved the night

i love hurt to, and i have no problem with them making money, although i'm sure they made more under a major label than whatever tiny label that's doing a horrible job of promoting them now. i just don't like how they changed their sound in what appears to be an attempt to go more mainstream.

after more and more listens, i've begun to like a few more songs a bit more, but i still have never found myself really wanting to hear a particular song. they're all just so painfully average... its not something i dislike, but not something i'd ever go out of my way (you know, like opening up itunes and searching my library) to hear.

Yeah, I really love this record but they're definitely making less money than they were before. And tvol--- the album is much more rock oriented, yes, but Rapture, Falls Apart, and especially Ten Ton Brick all did better on mainstream radio than Wars did. So is this album more mainstream oriented? I wouldn't go that far.

wars didn't do well because its not a very good song. yes, some of those songs did well on the radio, but this entire cd sounds like its geared to be on the radio. there aren't any songs like summers lost, forever, overdose, or any other of their great songs that aren't radio-friendly.

I agree with you that it's different, but I like the new sound just as much. Well and Pandora could fit on one of the earlier albums, just as songs like Unkind and Ten Ton Brick would fit in fine here. It's not a complete departure, and in my opinion the quality remains the same.

I love hurt. I love this album. But theres something about it that bugs me.

It just doesnt have that EPIC song like Vol I and Vol II had.

For Vol. I there was House Carpenter (among others)

For Vol. II there was Summers Lost (among others)

For GttM there is ... Got Jealous maybe? maybe Role Martyr X.

My point is, GttM is FULL of great songs. BUT, just not in the same league as previous albums.

Still a great album i listen to it everyday

^I'll agree with that assessment, with the addendum of GttM is full of listenable songs, just nothing that stands out as something I would recommend to anyone as worthwhile to seek out. its an ok album, and i listen to it about as much as i skip over it. which is something i never do with the first two volumes.
