I used to listen to this all the time. Andy Mckee is pretty damn good. The label that this was produced under, Candyrat, has some other amazing artists as well- you should check them out. Now, though, I tend to lean towards Antoine Dufour over Andy.
Rylynn is my fav on this album. Song is incredible.

I don't see how one could NOT like him. His music is so relaxing, yet fun to listen to.

"Aside from being "impressive" I've always found him to be boring. There's really only so much I can enjoy music without a message or purpose other than "hey look how talented I am". However I will give him props for raw talent."
Perhaps viewing this as music without a message or purpose is the real issue. Just because it lacks lyrics or vast instrumentation doesn't mean it doesn't communicate anything. These songs paint pictures and landscapes for the listener to escape to, and convey the intended emotions with not a single word uttered.
The prowess in his playing doesn't serve the purpose of being a showboat, but allows him to simultaneously present rhythm, melody, countermelody and chord progression with only two hands and one guitar.
It is probably way more emotional and meaningful to him when he plays all the voicings of a piece in its entirety without having to multi-track. Being able to essentially replicate the duties of multiple instruments by himself at one time is about as authentic and as close as you can get to the vision of the music.
