It's a good, interesting album you can see that it was made to be listened in the movie, no on its own... The movie isn't that impressive neither

It's pretty sweet. But I wouldn't recommend this to someone looking for the Floyd they heard on the radio.

This is the worst Floyd album but it's still good. First half especially rules

Yea, although it has a certain charm to it. I still haven't heard Ummagumma yet though, so I can't say which is their lowest point.

Ummagumma is decent too and a bit better than this, it's just really excessive

I still have never heard:

The Division Bell
A Momentary Lapse of Reason
Obscured by Clouds
Atom Heart Mother
Ummagumma

or this, More, should I listen to More?

or skip it?

@Lambs

As far as More- "Ibiza Bar" and "The Nile Song" are definitely worth checking out. They're pretty heavy rock tracks, and "the Nile

Song" is definitely one of their best songs overall (though low on that list). I'm particularly fond of "Main Theme", I think it's a

pretty interesting experimental/psychedelic tune but can be boring if you're not into that. Overall this album is really just a

soundtrack to the movie and therefore not a "true" Floyd album and not exactly entertaining throughout (but that's just my

opinion)

Cool ill check this out since you say it has at least some great material. I mostly just listen to songs, not full albums, so a few gems will be worth listening for. thanks that essentially answered exactly what I was wondering

Yeah, no problem.

Also, since you said you haven't heard Atom Heart mother, Obscured By Clouds and Ummagumma- I would also put those albums in the same category with More in the sense that they are all "growers" at best. Those albums all represent Pink Floyd's 'dark era' in the sense that they've kind of driften from the abstract psych-pop of that Syd Barrett-era and have yet to hit the creative peak found in Dark Side (Well, Meddle is an exception to that). Obscured by Clouds kind of starts to make its way into a more traditional rock sound- I don't really like it, but it is not as rough of a listen.

Ummagumma is pretty much avant-garde experimentalism and I can honestly say it is a major chore to sit through if you only want traditional psych/prog rock songs. Atom Heart Mother is pretty experimental in a few tracks but has some great folk stuff like "Summer 68", Fat Old Sun" and "If", but I wouldn't consider them essential either.

as far as The Division Bell and A Momentary Lapse of Reason, I would say start with Momentary lapse of reason because even though Roger Waters is no longer there, it has more catchier tracks like "Learning to Fly". I never liked the Division Bell, but it does try to stick to a traditional prog-driven sound, so there's that.

Sorry for the long comment, Pink Floyd is my favourite band, so I hope I shed some light at least.

Pretty much errything sgt pepper said. Best of what u haven't heard is obscured by clouds IMO.

The studio stuff on ummagumma is sweet. Live stuff is meh

AHM has some good tunes but overall too much psychedelic noodling for me

I'm a gay-for-waters fan so take this with a grain of salt if you want, but Floyd after Waters lost most of their creativity IMO.

AMLOR has a few catchy songs but is nothing great. TDB is honestly one of the more boring albums I've heard, sorry JT and

notrap and others
