The people that will like this probably already knew it as soon as they read the summary.
nope, I read the summary and was interested, but after listening to some (about 4- 5) tracks I discovered that I actually don't find much in the band

Well, ha ha, then maybe I'm just completely wrong. Like I said, I didn't really appreciate this the first week I had it. It grew on me after many listens. Also, it is a "3" so hopefully people aren't going into this expecting something phenomenal.

Heard this a few days ago and thought they were absolutely horrendous.

naah i wasen't expecting anything phenomenal, just expected a good, somewhat standard gothic rock album, but it failed to deliver for me

What I find funny besides North Korea, Willie, is that we both enjoy gothic metal/rock yet we cant really agree on any bands.
|
| |
actually, I'm not going to check out their myspace instead I'm downloading a few of their songs

I don't think I would have given this enough time to grow on me if I hadn't volunteered to do the review when the promo came in, but all I can say is it did grow on me. lol, should I put a note at the bottom of the review that says 'PS - I was wrong!' ;)

What I find funny besides North Korea, Willie, is that we both enjoy gothic metal/rock yet we cant really agree on any bands. I've noticed that too. But, we did both agree on that new Flowing Tears album you reviewed.

naah man don't do that, its just my opinon really (although a lot of people seem to agree with me hahaha)

I wouldn't really do it. I was just being a smartass. With this style of music there are a lot of factors that could make someone not like it. Kind of what Balls was saying - we both like this style of music but we hardly ever agree on the actual bands.

yaah I agree. You did say in the review that the choruses seem all very similar. Well for me it wasen't the choruses that bothered me, i thought that the verses were rather boring

Exactly - and I really liked most of the main riffs and the verses. Oh well, this wasn't an album I was really trying to get people into, it was just a promo we got.

well yaah, the guitarwork was rather good tbh, just idk I still thought the verses were rather boring. It's somewhat hard to explain why I didn't like the verses while saying the guitars were ok haha, but I guess what I am trying to say is that the verse buidlups were boring

You might like Artrosis Willie. The guy from there I believe is from Sui generis Umbra that crazy ritual ambient band i'm obsessed with.

ha ha. My next review might get the same reaction as this one because I fucking love the album and comments from their older albums seem to imply that they're not "Sputnik Approved".

A few decent riffs, but I absolutely agree that there's no cohesion in the songs. Take two different bands and splice them together so that the instrumental parts are tight, the verses are beyond bland and without nuance to accommodate singing over top, and the choruses are suddenly operatic to appease fans of the genre. It seems like the band really wants to do other things musically, but is too confined by the genre.
I'd really like to see a band like this that utilized singing over technical riffs. Do some Mozart vocal pyrotechnic shit and that would retain my interest.

Hopefully they branch out in the future. It's not like they're going to make a lot of money with their current style anyway so they might as well push things.

Yeah, I think it's in me to check this out. Probably do so tomorrow.
