It just doesn't have the same energy. There isn't a bad song, but nothing that makes you feel that Americana rush surge like 59 Sound and Sink or Swim do. Best song is Orphans, as its the only thing close to the old punk sound.

yeah, I've been tempted to drop this down to 2.5 a couple times too. There are some borderline great tracks, but none of them have staying power and most of it is just boring. Other two albums are light years ahead of this.

For reals. I loved 59, but it had songs like Miles Davis and Meet Me By the River's Edge that were pretty meh, and I'm not getting that with this.

I love Meet Me By the River's Edge, but agreed on Miles Davis. It's the only song I'm not really in love with on that one. But I'd say most of this one is about on par with Miles Davis for me.
