Yeah. I guess prog and any form of hard rock get particularly screwed on here. Have you seen any
quality prog/hard rock reviews featured lately?

Yeah pretty much, my friend. As long as my reviews will attract one visitor or more, I'll be useful to something. After all we both do what we like first, isn't it.

Unfortunately not. The law of supply and demand would be much beneficial, and the face of rock 'n roll would get much brighter.

Yeah. This might come as shocking to Sputnik community, but there were some excellent proggresive and stoner rock releases last year.

What a waste! It's a shame, man. There's no way out of it. Like you, I wish that both all these noteworthy bands and rock reviews would have more attention from one way or another but sadly, the only way to promote these lovely reviews is both to keep the threads alive and to make some lists, it seems.

Proletarian's life haha

Nice to see this got comments while I was off; ProgJect is beginning to make a difference! I've been thinking it would have been cool in hindsight not to reveal who we were, but with Jethro's easily distinguishable style it would not have taken long.

On the discussion on this page, sputnikians actually do tend to like prog a lot.

It would have been cool indeed, and haha you're right, it wouldn't have taken long for a second reason; Like every maintained mysteries, it would have attracted more people, and the more people we get, the more chances we have to get unmasked. hehehe

Also, it makes me sooo happy to see our ProgJect so healthy. Lets spread it all over Sputnik! Long live ProgJect!!!

Apocalypse and this are pretty nice, but it's all no comparison to Mahavishnu's magificent first incarnation.

You're absolutely right, Nag. What the band have missed the most regarding the first incarnation is obviously the keyboardist extraordinaire Jan Hammer.

The band tried more than once to rebuild with the classic lineup and everytime, the only member who declined the proposition was sadly Hammer himself.

Yeah, Hammer often falls away behind McLaughlin and Goodman, but repeated listening to The Inner Mounting Flame and Birds of Fire have caused me to see his skills. Rhythm section is a powerhouse too, love Cobham's explosive drumming. They also had quite the multi-national line-up. Their first two, particularly TIMF, are very intense. Love it.

You learned your MO-101 very well, man hahaha. Cobham was obviously the man. The only musician I wish he was into the first incarnation is bassman Ralph Armstrong (J-L Ponty) who is way more funky, more creative than Rick Laird IMO. Listen to Ponty's 'Enigmatic Ocean' then you'll know what I mean. And about Jan Hammer, he pursued a solo career featuring Jerry Goodman here or there. 'Like Children' and 'The First Seven Days'(its song 'The Animals' is worth the price of admission) are his best releases. Both musicians also produced the famous ''Jeff Beck with the Jan Hammer Group: Live''

Laird is still a great bass player though. I might listen to some Ponty, since I liked the track you linked me.
