I actually like Tragic Aura quite a lot as a filler/intro song.

The review is well written but also very disagreeable.

Not that my comment will matter to the haters, but did the thought ever occur to anyone that Journal planned this “jumbled up heap of grotesque proportions”? This review makes it sound like Journal is retarded and didn't realize what a mess they were making. Credibility comes in to question in regards to the “Sweeping more than Cinderella” comment. As a guitar player, who has listened to this album many times, I would have to say that “sweeps” are definitely not the main focus of this album. In fact, frantic and choppy jazz chords and rhythms seem much more common. I get it… The reviewer hates this band, but fast notes doesn’t always = sweeps. I can see why Journal would have to be compared to Dillinger, Protest, and BTBAM, since there really isn't anything else you can compare it to, but Journal is still extremely different for reasons that are hard to pinpoint. I was thinking they sound more like Dillinger + old school Nintendo more than anything else - but again, it's hard to say. I think the review somewhere eludes to the idea that Journal use lots of "tricks" and what not, to fool the listener into thinking they are "technically impressive" and "groundbreaking". Whether or not you like this band's music is one thing, but their level of skill is hardly debatable. When I saw them play live, my jaw practically hit the floor, and so did countless others who were present that night. They are some of the most technically proficient players that I have ever seen.

The Unlorja compositions are very different, but they are also very well executed and memorable, so to this review, I'll say: To each his own.

The incoherence, as you unfavorably describe it, is a key attribute of this genre of music, in which you either are unfamiliar or just bitterly despise. If you are looking for standard timings, predictable melodies, and verse/chorus song structures, you won't find it here. It was meant to be that way. The numerous movements found in each Journal song, is most comparable to a classical music piece. The difference being weapons of choice (drum and guitar). Tossing out Dillinger's name doesn't show much insight, except to illuminate us that you don't understand Journal in the same way that you don't understand Dillinger.

False the songs are very good especially Velvet Ribbon and Labyrinth of Betrayal. Basically, the first half of this is the best part.

Hahahaha Wow! This has got to be the smuggest, most elitist review that I have ever read. I take it that you are now musically enlightened. Since you would have absolutely loved this a year+ ago,

praise the lord for you have found the error of your ways. Good for you!

I was very surprised to find this review. Not sure why someone would spend so much time and energy analyzing music from a style they don't even like. The tone of this writing reeks of spite.

Oops... You caught me in the middle of an edit. Oh well...

You are welcome, by the way.

Musical tastes do often change, but it is strange that you would have such a passion to rag on this band if it is in fact true that you would have really liked them only 2 years ago. It's almost like you are writing a review on your very own musical taste, 2 years ago. That's fine, I suppose, but I don't see what it accomplishes

LOL! You literally just changed your rating from a 2.5 to 2.0. There's that spite again. Let's see if we can get him to reduce it to a 1.0

Bro, you’re a great writer but your musical comprehension level is atrocious. There is no way that you thoroughly listened to this and even less likely that you play an instrument or not very well at least. This review is like a blind dude trying to describe a painting to someone.
