Fantastic album, last night actually blew me away. New York I Love You made me weep. Sniffle.

I just
I just am unable to process why anybody would dislike LCD Soundsystem
I just don't get it. How can you not like this stuff? What is there to dislike?
It's trash for the most part

There's obviously not enough bleep bloop present on this album.

But but but
Ugh I guess this is what happens when you let yourself gain a really personal connection to anything

I suppose the 'bricklaying technique' isn't for everyone. For me, I love the way the songs build...especially All My Friends, just so so epic.
Awesome review by the way dude, did James Murphy justice So glad I saw them at Reading in 2010. Bit pissed that I don't live in NYC though.

Yes, because I obviously listen to nothing else. But who knows, maybe my "appreciation" for electronic music just makes me hate this. I find it to be boring and uninspired. I mean this album is the exception, but only just

Think I prefer this is happening to this. Do love this tho

Yes, because I obviously listen to nothing else.
I was being serious... If I wanted to hear an electronic album this is not what I would listen to.
I wasn't trying to offend you.

Reads like a Staff Pick review lol. Pos.

Yeah, I mean, I hear that they're "boring" a lot, which I guess has some merit
But innovation is not the be-all end-all of good music
And this stuff just feels right to me

Why do you have this rated as both a 4.5 and a 5.0, Conrad? Are you trying to say it's more of a 4.75?

there is an extremely large amount of unwarranted hate for LCD Soundsystem around Sputnik and it's pretty much been like that forever.
even as indie rawk has taken the reins a bit more here, this is one of those bands whom I feel are always underrated.
that being said: this is far and away not a perfect record--but I can also see myself listening to it 20 years from now. So, yeah.
also if you rly like Talking Heads I would refuse to understand any dislike for LCD.
I will miss these fuckers : (

I have it rated as a 4.5 because that's my personal rating, but there's no way I could get away with writing that review and not giving it a 5.
One of these days, I might bump it up, though. It's one of those albums that really had an impact on me, ranking alongside the White Album and Homogenic/Vespertine for me in terms of "importance".

Makes perfect sense, there are so many gems on this record. Even if the back end is a bit lacking.
Their first record was probably what really got me into New Wave after its release during my senior year of h school. man I bumped "Daft Punk Is Playing At My House" so much that summer.
and yes, I agree Conrad, this is definitely a 5 review ; )
excellent as well, if I didn't point it out already.

I don't think Murphy even has a "perfect" record in him; the flaws in his stuff (mostly songwriting-related) are as essential to the music's success as the perfection (mostly sonically minded)
I mean, This Is Happening is actually a lot more pleasant to listen to than this, but it doesn't have QUITE the same impact for me.

again I agree. Murphy's flaws, in my opinion, add to the allure of LCD.
I think I prefer This Is Happening overall comparatively. But "All My Friends" is their best song ever.

conrad, did you see them? my friends/bandmates did (i couldnt!!!). so fucking jealous. i've never been the biggest fan of lcd but honestly this album rocks my socks. classic driving album

No, I didn't get to see them, but I watched the stream last night and I had a few friends there who raved and raved about it afterwards.. it was a brilliant show.

i guess i should get this but i don't remember being that enthusiastic about this is happening or him in general.

Just find a rip of last nights concert...makes every LCD release ever inconsequential by comparison
