not sure if you edited that first sentence or not but it still needs a little reworking, at present it comes off a little awkward and there's a grammatical mistake in there.

well yeah, if you're gonna keep the sentence like that then it should be "contains".
as it is, it's a little awkward. I would reword it as:
"A first listen to Danzig's 1988 self-titled release calls attention to a better and cleaner production than some of their past workings."

Never heard of this band or of Dommin. I wouldn't say a lack of comments is a bad thing, although you're still to beat my record low of 2 on a really underappreciated album
