yeah, but this year has yielded some much more awesome cascadian/atmospheric releases imo. but this is still pretty sweet.

Yeah I would say Deafheaven and Ash Borer are both a bit better for me and I still need to hear the new Alda.

the new Alda was probably the biggest surprise of the year. i did not expect it to be anywhere near as good as it turned out to be. Ash Borer and Deafheaven were still better, but Alda was ridiculous

Eh that's the closest style I would associate them with. They're heavier than most of the other bands that would be considered that style though.

I don't know, lyrically/sonically they have absolutely nothing in common with Cascadian black metal so that comparison really makes no sense at all.

I think their sound is mostly similar though. Although, like I said, they are a bit heavier at times.

they're sort of from Cascadia (northern california) and they're atmospheric bm, but they don't live in a remote organic cabin and they don't record their songs under a grim full moon with streams and crickets
