I was surprised that this took more than 5 listens or so to catch on. Until then it seemed a little lifeless. Like I keep reiterating, the lyrics help a ton.

good review eric, although i don't think the music on this ep makes for any less impact than the stuff on the full-length. nothing on here matches the pace of their heavy hitters but on a bite-sized release like this that would be awkward anyway. totally in agreement about keith as a lyricist though. this is also far from the only thing they've released since '09 but i'm sure you know that.

I think this is a very solid EP. Different than the one true LP but it has it's own personality while still retaining their style. Kudos to these guys.

This is beautiful both lyrically and instrumentally, I can't handle the bands sound right now though as the memories it recalls are too much.

Pos'd sir, and I would Pos again if possible!

Great review, but I'd have to disagree: "Minnow" is the breadwinner track for me on this record.

water is my favorite i think or maybe shoulders. i swim like a minnow is among their weakest tracks since before year of the rabbit.

My vote def goes to shoulders. I actually liked I swim like a minnow, but in comparison to their full

length and the other songs on this EP it really is their weakest in a while.

last night i dreamt the old sea-foam green paint, in the room my brother and i once shared, was swallowing up the walls again, a forest of latex reclaiming acres of land.

Yeah that one was contender for my favorite off here too. Fuck now that I'm playing this over and over right now. I keep changing my mind back and forth between the two.

i just really want a full-length now. their songs all have that same similar sort of feel but he's such a good songwriter it hardly even matters.

I'm listening to the LP right now. It's so cash. But yeah I don't mind if an artist uses a similar style for most of the songs on an album. I usually categorize albums by one sort of mood most of the time anyways.

They have a new song up. Or well if you get the Topshelf record sampler you get a new song from an upcoming 7" that coming this summer. It has guest vocals from the band Colossal too. You need to like it or tweet it to get it here http://topshelfrecords.com/2011/
