One of the most pioneering trip-hop albums ever from one of the most important groups in music. A modern classic.

I'm listening to this for the first time and while I'm not blown away by this release I'm certaintly impressed. The only aspect that drags Mezzanine down is the two "Exchange" songs that just ruin the albums flow.

Hmm, maybe I should pick up this album. Everyone says its good. I listened to some of the samples on itunes, and its not bad.

I got my hands on this album not too long ago. I've not listened to all of it yet, but I've been very much enjoying what I've heard, particularly "Teardrop" and "Group Four".

This album is a grower, like all the best albums usually are. I'll still be playing this in 20 years time, I reckon.

Btw, can anyone actually name a BAD trip-hop album? Are we just biased towards this type of music?

There's quite some crap in the genre, but it usually stays underground/doesn't get any recognition

This is a pretty tight disc. Teardrop chills me right the fuck out.

This is one of my "desert island" records. If I was stranded on a desert island and I had a choice between this record and an unlimited supply of fresh water... I'd be drinking sand.

And then I'd cut out my tooth with an ice skate. But I wouldn't care because I would have Massive Attack.

And then I'd find the people from Lost. But I wouldn't care because I would have Massive Attack.

And then I would sleep with Anne Heche. But I wouldn't care because I would have Massive Attack.

And then I would run around playing video games and smoking weed. But I wouldn't care because I'd be smoking weed.

I'd keep going but I ran out of crappy desert island movies to reference.

To freshly baked in response too ''Does anyone know what the hell 'toy like people make me boy like' means?''

Speaking as a poet (loser) I'd say that fake people just make him more real, hes into his virtue I guess

Very well writeen review, even though I don't feel Mezzanine is a classic, it is still one of the most important albums of the '90's.

I just feel that Protection is Massive Attack's definitive album.

While this album has many good songs, I don't see what makes it a classic. The two Exchange songs aren't good, and there is virtually no variation in the songs. I like the first three songs very much, and group of four is awesome, but the rest does nothing for me.

The House theme song is cool, but otherwise this album isn't really that great.
