@ JakeStallion and Gmork89
Yeah it's heavier than his other stuff, but in terms of structure and stuff his songwriting hasn't really evolved in a good few years now. So in that respect, it's typical Tremonti.

@Tarkus Because he's a great songwriter and musician.
@Themac Well he's evolved his song writing by making things heavier, so perhaps the next step for him
is mixing up song structures a bit. He did it with A.R.T.S.
(http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2nXiI4KcyPk) and I'm confident he can do it again.

You think he's a clown, I think he's a talented songwriter and guitarist.

true but why

He writes some pretty great riffs and melodies. Plus he's come up with more than a few incredible guitar solos.

are you familiar with tony iommi

The man has potential to write great stuff but he refuses to ascend beyond writing shitty mainstream rock. Money is clearly why he puts out abums because he just won't evolve or even attempt to do anything interesting. I felt generous giving this a 3.

I'm not comparing Tremonti to Tony Iommi or any other legendary musicians, I'm simply just saying that he's a great mainstream rock musician. His work with Alter Bridge and with this album proves that he's a step or two above others in the genre.

Yeah tark is right; hard rock guitar players as a group are probably the worst of any genre in music, no exaggeration.

Whatever I still love him. Don't worry Mark, don't let the bad guys get to you. Jakey's here for ya
|

hard rock right now in general is just extremely dull, bland, banal, monotonous, etc whatever your prefer

I can agree to that. I'm a sucker for some mainstream rock, but I haven't really found anything
impressive in the genre since ABIII, Chevelle, and some of Red's last album. Shinedown's new album was
disappointing.

i havent found anything impressive in the genre since grunge
and im not even that big of a fan of grunge

Don't get me wrong, I enjoy my fair share of progressive music, but I will always have undying love for Alter Bridge and Tremonti.

Hey now! There's plenty of good prog that's come out in the 2000s. Porcupine Tree, The Mars Volta, Karnivool, Dead Letter Circus, Oceansize, etc.
