I don't like the songs. As Kripes mentioned, there really are no hooks, and the lyrics are dull to me, with the exception of "Silenced". That said, they are masters of time sigantures and rhythm.

So you don't feel differently from my stance on this and LAF, or what?

well i still like LaF more than i like this one, i dont know theres something about this album that just dont apeal to me, it isnt a bad album but IMO LaF has more standout tracks

Well it's not THAT horribly produced, but I don't think it's good either The guitars are quite muddy, and it lacks the precision and attack that LD50 had. I just think they could have done better.
And as for World So Cold, all I can say is that I was digging it, and then the chorus left me cold. No pun intended. Something about it just doesn't work for me.

The production is not horrible, but I do dislike the "fizzy" guitar sound most of all.

This album has no glaring, gaping holes or terrible flaws. It was just overall boring. Most of the songs sounded the same. Not Falling is the best, and A World So Cold is probably coming in at second. Mercy, Severity has a very good chorus, but Silenced is overrated. One song that doesn't get talked about a lot that is good is Shadow Of a Man, that song stood out from the others. But Trapped in the Wake of a Dream, (Per)Version of the Truth, and Skrying all sounded the same. Average album, and Mudvayne's worst.

Skrying is different than all the other songs although not in a good way. Im not sure wat they tried to do with that song but watever it was, it didnt work. 12:97:24:99 couldve been completely removed from the Cd cause its 11 seconds of silence(pretty dumb). Other than those, the album is pretty solid and definately better than BOATTE and LAF(although not by much for LAF).

This album is pretty good but isn't comparable to LAF or LD50. Mudvayne's full potential just doesn't shine throuh in this album and is hard at first to get into, after a few listens though you really start to appreciate it's true value, I think a couple people said that already. This Message Edited On 05.18.06

I just listened to this album for the first time in years, it's alot better than i remembered it

I relate to this:

As your musical maturity develops, you often tend to shuffle aside bands you used to love. Having listened to a variety of music, and being accustomed to more complexities within music, you become able to listen to your old music with a different ear, and decide what is, sadly, crap. However, as your musical ear expands, you can often see exactly what it is in a band you find terrific. Mudvayne is one of these bands. I enjoyed their music immensely when I was 13 years old, but I never really wondered why. Music is subjective, yes, but an ability to observe the objective qualities is a band is a useful tool in defending them against critics.

alright... so i just want to speak up about this piece of art/ music, because i feel highly about it. i definately am an all-around mudvayne fan, but for me, this is their best. whereas it has been stated that the production of this album is lacking... lacking in what respect? I definately find "lost and found" to be the over-produced album. I feel it has very little mood. The musicianship is great, but that sound... it sounds so radio-friendly clean and poppy. For me, "that" is over-produced. David Botrill, who produced "the End..." has worked with the likes of Tool and Vast (two other bands -- especially tool -- that I respect and listen to). I find everything he does to be the bands most solid work...

Wow, talk about climaxes, driving riffs... every song on this album is a killer.

Now I must admit when I listen to music, I listen to its technicalities -- what is being played and how it was made, etc. The End still perplexes. The lyrics are straight up sick. The song structures are diverse. The guitar riffs and bass riffs aren't always on the same page... but complement eachother amazingly. The percussion, oh my! You can just tell everyone here in their own right are incredible musicians... but they work together letting each have their time and place to shine.

For me, this is where it happened: "The End." Sadly, I hoped their next CD would be just a continuation of mathematical strutures, intense riffs... pure fucking art of the End. I feel as though Lost and Found is just wayyy too poppy sounding, no thanks to the production... It really does remind me of evanescene (how ever you spell that)... not my thing but perhaps yours. This Message Edited On 02.02.07This Message Edited On 02.02.07

this dude is a really fucking good reviewer. i thought that l.d. 50 was actually really amazing due to the fact that they incorporated technical jazzy elements so subtly that some people didn't even notice and branded them shitty nu-metal. however, they really do deserve that title here. this is a terrible album. all of the progressive influences are gone.

^^ I'm with you. L.D. 50 was a classic amoung nu-metal and one of the only really good records of the genre.
