Yeah, most people on Sputnik don't have that attention span, average should be at least a 4, I'd put it at 4.2

I have no idea how this isn't up at a 4.1/4.2 :/ They were excellent live as well, though didn't get the best reception

When did you see them? I saw them at the Kscope gig but they didn't play Interstellar or Forever & More

I saw a 45min set at ArcTanGent festival a week ago. They had sound problems at first, but really got into it. They did play Interstellar actually, it was really awesome

Most of the songs were from this album actually....

Sounds great, they had a 90 minute set where I saw them, but they wasted half of it on Paris in the Spring and Extra Vehicular, those songs are snooze fests and 21 minutes in total, enough for both my favourites and somet else. They played Spaceman from the new EP which was pretty cool, and the crowd seemed to love them. There was some chick whipping her hair into other people's faces the whole time

The crowd were pretty bored actually, but they were still awesome. I think peeople were pissed at how
they handled the sound problems actually. I thought it was great though.
Also, what the fuck are people smoking? This is one of the best albums of the last couple of years.
3.7 average my arse

I guess it's not that immediate, and most Sputnik-ers have no attention span

Trading Dark Matter... is awesome, but stuff like this or Townsend's Ziltoid the Omniscient I can just never dig as a whole. Some cool tracks here and there. If this had the production values of the first record it'd sound pretty damn amazing

Weird to compare this to Ziltoid, that record was love/hate because it was dripping with cheese which really isn't the case here. It's just a little long winded but there's plenty of recent albums that are massive with high scores (The Seer, Hubardo) just a couple

"dripping with cheese which really isn't the case here"
I'd say there's some cheese here. Obviously not on the ridiculous scale that it was in Ziltoid, but it's still there. And in a way, whereas Ziltoid was at least self-consciously cheesy and dumb, most of the lyrics here are cheesy in a sorta awkwardly unintentional way. Like the "Into another di-men-shunnn" chorus in The Wave or the entire of "Planet of Insects" etc

Kerrfuffle - Master of Cheese
The whole point of those songs, and what makes them is what you would call the cheese, it's their tongue-in-cheek 'spacey-ness'.
There are also times when the lyrics really soar, like in Forever & More... the feels I get from that song are amazing

First listen. Only four songs in, but this is pretty rockin'.

I thought you'd like this. It definitely takes time to grow, that 4 will go up.

Alright, so this officially rules. If there's one complaint about this album, I wish that the middle
section where there are four 8 minute plus tracks in a row could use a shorter song in between
somewhere. Other than that, great pacing and excellent material.

Middle section is best section, that's where you're in the DEPTHS OF THE OCTOPUS
Seriously though, Forever & More is one of the best songs like, ever

I have no issues with the material in that section, because it's all awesome. I just wish there was a
break somewhere haha. The album is already long enough as it is. There's no need to compound that
situation by putting 40 hours of music back-to-back like that.
It's a minor issue. I'm enjoying the album a lot.

I think it's one of those things you forget about when you get used to the album, I do see what you mean though even if it doesn't affect be because all those songs are ridiculously good, I'd say especially Trading Dark Matter but I couldn't miss out Interstellar or The Sick Rose
