fuck musicianship in black metal man. Burzum is a fuckin one man project and he def ain't no virtuoso. But he's damn good at conveying cold, dark atmospheres and that's what black metal is all about. I'd say his music is far more compelling than anything by Emperor dude xing bro there are reasons why Burzum is so highly revered amongst the black metal community



I mean black metal is one of the cases where technical skill and compositional talent isn't really needed. You know what they say: sometimes less is more.

I really think Burzum are a victim of hype. Varg killed a guy and got all weird in prison so his music got more attention than it otherwise would have. He is very talented at making a cold atmosphere , and while I think atmosphere is very important to black metal, I would like to hear something more than minor chords and tremelo picking. Unfortunately, when he actually started branching out after his prison release, his albums weren't that well received.

If you're not a fan of the genre though then Hvis Lyset isn't really an album you'd wanna start with... Maybe it'll grow on you once you become more familiar with the genre? Respect your opinion tho although i disagree hard

I've been listening to Burzum for about 9 years now, so I think I'm a little late for the growing on me stage. I used to love Varg back when I was really into metal, then I grew out of it. I'm glad Varg is trying new things.

What's the best way to get this? Online?

Great album, took me a couple of listens to grow, definately worth the time =).

This is a fucking masterpiece.

The samples are utterly tortured, as is the Nik's vocal performance. This is genuine suffering.
