Sorry, I think Part IV sums up the band better than any of their other songs, really... cept Whacko Jacko. The time sig (7/8 to 15/16) in the verses is a bit weird sounding but I love it, it has such a bouncy groove to it, and the riff, man! The Riff! Go die.

Just about EVERY song they play is tough to play smoothly, IMO... the odd-chord changes, time-sig stuff, and shredderiffic, ridiculous chops are simply phenomenal, and they're all pretty melodic 60-70% of the time (even when he goes crazy on the grind parts it's riddick). No guitarist in the last five-ten years, IMO, has come out with such a perfect mix of emotion, tech, and catchyness with ridiculous talent, at least since Omar Rodriguez-Lopez... Thomas Erak is simply f*cking insane.

Pt 4 just seems so....generic. Its not like its a bad song, I just don't care for it. I don't see anything special about it. It's my opinion, folks...
My favorite song on Ghostship is Pt 5. The middle makes me want to dance.

The vocalist in my band adores this band and practically orgasmed when I explained I could play some of their riffs. They are a very unique and talented band but their songs do sound similar.

The Fall of Troy=Best Young Band Around!
When the issue these demos i hope they dont fuck em up like McCaulkin.
Has anyone heard any of their older stuff.......by older i mean thirty years war stuff? Cause i have an oh boy its like the present fall of troy meets minus the bear. Of course the production and stuff is lacking.

I kinda know what you mean. don't get me wrong, recently the fall of troy is in my top 10 favorite bands, but it seems like almost all of their songs are "progressive." as much as they mix different genres, most of them have the same feel, which is not necessarily a bad thing. I think some of it's cause of tom erak's style of guitar playing.
in a way they remind me of rage against the machine. they both have unique styles but at the same time they have that signature sound and they usually don't stray far from that. This Message Edited On 06.09.06

Best TFOT release yet, lol. No seriously, it beats out Doppleganger with ease and almost tops the s/t album too, and only with four songs. Part IV is just insanity, the riffage throughout is simply fantastic and way too tight considering there's only three dudes up there. Almost flawless... 4.5/5
Part V breakdown = orgasm

Calm down fanboy. ^^
Ghostship > The Fall of Troy > Doppelganger
|

Haha word. I think s/t > Ghostship just because the actual Ghostship hasn't been made yet, however, Part 4 is still their best song and everybody knows it.

Yeah but I hope to God that they dont redo the songs on this demo with the new album. They killed Maculay McCalkin on Doppelganger.
For me at least.

They won't redo them for the next album as far as I know. Think I read something about that in an interview a while back. But they definately plan to re-release the Ghostship Demos under another name after the new album.
