as the same group who put out those raggedy cassette demos could not possibly the refined band that has skirted with “mainstream success” as of late.

To say they've achieved any sort of "mainstream success" based on what you read on the net/ the odd metal mag is just not true because that's the only place you will ever read about them. Or do you mean they've become sort of popular within the metal community? They still release raggedy cassettes!

Great review though, I like you doing the metal releases around here. It's always refreshing to hear perspective from someone who isn't exclusively metal comment on albums such as these.

i think he means that they have achieved success outside of the metal metal community, even if it is still mostly within the larger extreme music community. "hipster black metal" or whatever.

they're the world's most fearsome fighting team/they're heroes on the half-shell, and they're green (we're really hip!)

It's available from the German label, and the band has their first show today (Friday) in Europe, so we should be seeing a downloadable rip in the next few days, hopefully. Hopefully someone going to their Friday show both buys the vinyl and has the sense to rip it. Or someone could ask Gilead to just stream it :3

this is pretty great, not sure if I like it more than Cold of Ages, but it's at least on par with the self-titled imo

Well this rules just as I was expecting. These guys are probably my favorite modern black metal band.
