Funny thing is, even though I think this a great, solid album, I can easily see and understand why people would dislike or even hate it. I could probably review the album with that same mentality if I didn't consciously want to enjoy it. Sounds strange, I know.

@SirLord MP's drumming isn't fluid and it's production is dull so the bonus tracks get ruined a little, especially Dregs and KC. Also the instrumental versions are all better than the originals, you can actually hear Rudess' keyboards

@Omair: I always try going into any album with the mentality that I'll get out of it something good and if not good, enjoyable. The more I can enjoy, the better. I try to avoid being a picky listener, which is probably why I don't mind and actually like James LaBrie's vocals. But it's also odd since I almost strictly listen to metal with the occasional film score, although bands like Alcest and Katatonia are making me want to get into post and doom, just for a more relaxing taste.

That's a good way of going about it Xeno, I do that with most new music I listen to but when it comes to bands I know it becomes more difficult to ignore expectations. Of course it gets the worse the more I like the band, hence my aggravation at DT
